Tashi delek everyone I just reached home safely yesterday. Thank you everyone for attending the recent 18th Annual Dechen Shingdrup Retreat.
Organized by the Northwest Tibetan Association of Portland, USA, this year’s 18th annual Dechen Shingdrup Practice Retreat was successfully completed without obstacles. May the merit accumulated through this virtuous practice be dedicated to the long life and continued well-being of the glorious root lama, and may it become a cause for the happiness and welfare of all sentient beings. I had a wonderful time with all my dharma brothers and sisters. Thank you for the warm hospitality and see you next year 🙏

བཀའ་དྲིན་ཆེ།

His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is not only from the same region of Tibet as I am, but he is also the Lama from whom I received the teachings on the Mahāmudrā of the Ganges. For this reason, he has always been someone toward whom I have felt exceptionally deep faith and devotion. Moreover, he is a Vajra brother of my own Root Guru, His Eminence Lama Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche.

I have now heard that His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is experiencing some illness. I therefore humbly request all of my Dharma friends and students to engage in long-life prayers and practices and to offer sincere prayers that Rinpoche may swiftly and completely recover from his illness.

Today, one of my students brought me a watermelon. When I was in Tibet, at my monastery all of the monks had a nickname; my nickname was watermelon head ! This student, not knowing my nickname (I think she just likes watermelons) brought me one to eat. I told her that’s the best present you can bring to me today. I’m going to put it on top of my head. She asked me, “Why would you put a watermelon on your head?” I responded, “Oh, my nickname is watermelon head!” She could not stop laughing 😂 Then, I balanced the fruit on my head and she took this photo #
