Last month, we announced a change in our leadership and today we want to highlight our new Vice President, Heather Schwarz. Heather has been a long time member of the Birth Network and is a licensed Midwife, birth worker, educator, and community advocate with over 20 years of experience. She began her career in birth work as a doula and childbirth educator, later expanding to include doula training, as well as birth center and home birth midwifery. In 2017, she moved from her home birth practice in Santa Monica to the Monterey Bay area, where she became co-owner and staff midwife of the Monterey Birth & Wellness Center, serving local families until its closure in 2024.
As Vice President, Heather brings her extensive experience in birth care and education, deep community knowledge, and longstanding commitment to families and birth professionals.
We are thrilled that Heather brings her experience and commitment to ensuring every birthing person receive respectful, informed, evidence-based care, and access to the resources and support they need during one of life’s most significant transitions.
