As we enter our 14th year begun by the dream of original founder, Kate Snider, we continue to serve every Saturday rain or shine. We are volunteer organized and served by many faithful who come every Saturday at the group picnic area. Pass the Word Ministry is a movement of compassionate people being faithfully present with our underserved friends who live outdoors or on t
he streets or in their cars or in the forest or on the dunes here on the Monterey Peninsula. Initial offerings, before Shelter in Place ((Eggs, potatoes, fruits, were served with warmth and love.)) Since April 2020 due to Pandemic of 2020 Bag lunches, Soup and Coffee are given to go only. Since than additional food offerings are served, as well as customized sandwiches to go. Clothing and toiletries and a variety of supplies are also distributed to our friends from Braxton Stuntz Foundation (3rd Sat), who joined us two years ago. Jack and Joan and friends from Carmel Pres Ch, come 4th Sat. While we follow in the rhythms of Jesus of the gospels we welcome people of all backgrounds, all ethnicities, all sexual orientations, & all belief or non-belief structures. This is a ministry of radical hospitality and compassion for the ‘last, the lost, and the least among us-whether rich or poor.’ We do our best to be a shame-free ministry. Community groups and church groups of all stripes have come to volunteer on Saturday mornings. Community groups, elementary schools, middle-schools, high-schools, colleges, grad schools, activists, and concerned neighbors have all contributed in a wide variety of ways to our presence among the marginalized in Monterey County. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) and we welcome compassionate community members of all stripes and backgrounds to serve alongside of us. If you have a simple desire to be lovingly present with people who live outdoors you are welcome to join us every Saturday 9am. (Orginal post by Brian Bajari) Updated by Aiko 2/2021, 6/2022
