✨ SIEDI (Salinas Inclusive Economic Development Initiative) is working to build a more just and thriving economy. At the May convening, we focused on building a practical understanding of what Community Benefits Agreements are, how they work and what they could mean for the Salinas Valley. This interactive strategy session was led by the UCSC Institute for Social Transformation and facilitated by Catchlight Collective.

SIEDI Part 2 Cohort: ALBA - Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association, BHC Monterey County, Center for Community Advocacy, Centro Binacional Para El Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño, COPA (Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action), Digital NEST, Hijos del Sol Arts Productions, Loaves, Fishes & Computers, Inc., Monterey Bay CLC, Mujeres en Acción, New Hope Baptist Church, Rancho Cielo Youth Campus and partners The Institute for Social Transformation at UC Santa Cruz, First 5 Monterey County and Hartnell College.

SIEDI is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. cfmco.org/SIEDI

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Monterey County is a grassroots nonprofit that provides education, support and public awareness to individuals and families affected by mental illness. It offers free/affordable workshops, resources and information throughout the county. The organization received a $20,000 Impact grant in 2025 in support of its LGBTQ+ Connection Support Group and a 2025 two-year Thrive grant of $25,000 each year for its Peer Leadership Initiative through the Community Foundation for Monterey County. 💐 Thank you to the nearly 600 supporters who came together for the 19th Annual Women’s Fund Luncheon, Standing Strong for Women & Girls. You helped raise $120,000 (and counting!) to support scholarships and life-changing programs for local women and girls. ✨👏

Our inspiring speakers, Erin Clark, Christina Bellantoni, Elenis Tamayo and Esmeralda Owen, reminded us of the power of using our voices, supporting one another and strengthening our community. 🧡

This impact is only possible because of our generous sponsors and everyone who joined us in making a difference. Missed the event? There’s still time to give: cfmco.org/womensfund
