Juneteenth Coalition’s 3rd Return to Pebble Beach Property for “Black Drives Matter” Premier Golf Fundraiser

Juneteenth Coalition is proud to announce the 2026 “Black Drives Matter” Golf Tournament Fundraiser, held on Saturday June 20th, 2026, at the historic Del Monte Golf Course. Marking the organization’s third event on a prestigious Pebble Beach Resort property, this tournament serves as the primary engine for the June 20th Project - Our Youth Leadership Programs designed to empower historically disenfranchised youth in our area through sports and the performing arts.

The Experience: Championship Golf with a Mission

Date: June 20, 2026 | Check-in: 1:00 PM | Shotgun Start: 2:00 PM.

Location: Del Monte Golf Course, 1300 Sylvan Rd, Monterey, CA.

Format: Two-Person Best Ball Championship - Competitive and non-competitive tournaments with prizes for the winner’s

The Setting: Players will compete on the oldest golf course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi, continuing the Coalition’s tradition of occupying the most storied fairways in the world.

June 20th Project - What happened the day after Juneteenth?? Our Youth Leadership Programs are designed to empower historically disenfranchised youth in our area through sports and the performing arts.

Pilot program - Obsidian Golf Academy (Ages 10-17)

Welcome to the Obsidian Golf Academy(OGA), where we teach life skills through the game of golf. We are accepting 20 youth kids in Monterey county to be a part of something special. OGA will not only teach you the game of golf but it will provide tools that will shape the adult you will become. The goal of OGA is to introduce and continue your knowledge of the game while also providing:

- Leadership Training
- Online Academic and Historical tutoring
- Mentorship from professionals in leading industries
- Golf Equipment and Attire
- Individual and group golf instruction
- Membership to Youth on Course
- Monthly golf clinics and rounds of golf
- Transportation to and from events and clinics

We want to break down bastions of privilege and show you that there are golf and professional opportunities for you closer to home then you realize. As our Co-Founder Maddox always says, “You can’t be what you can’t see.” Join us and apply now!! The deadline to receive applications is May 19th 2026 by 5pm. The first meeting of OGA will be Saturday, June 27th 2026.

Did you know Black History Month traces back to *1915*, when Dr. Carter G. Woodson ignited a movement to honor the rich history and achievements of Black Americans? 🙌✨ What started as *Negro History Week* in 1926 expanded to the month-long celebration we know today in *1976*, marking a transformative milestone in recognizing Black excellence. 🖤

This month inspires us to honor historic triumphs, confront struggles, and shape a future rooted in unity & equity. 💪📚 It’s a reminder: **Black history is history, and it belongs to us all.** 🌍

Let’s celebrate, educate, and empower—because the legacy is still being written. 🖋️🔥
