Returning to the United Kingdom after six years is a deeply personal decision for Meghan and me. It is not a decision we have made lightly, nor is it about returning to the life we once knew. It is about family, our children, and reconnecting with the country that has always been an important part of who I am.
Our decision to return with Archie and Lilibet is, above all, about giving them the opportunity to know Britain, to experience their heritage, and to build a closer relationship with their family. I believe that children should have the freedom to understand where they come from and to maintain meaningful connections with those who came before them.
I also recognise that our return will naturally raise questions about my relationship with my father, King Charles, my brother, the Prince of Wales, and the wider Royal Family. Time has changed many things, and there are still matters that require understanding, patience and healing. I do not expect everything to be resolved overnight.
For me, this is not about titles, positions or returning to official royal duties. It is about family and finding a more peaceful way forward. I remain committed to the causes that matter deeply to me, particularly supporting veterans and those who have served their countries.
The monarchy itself will continue to evolve, as it always has, and I respect the responsibilities carried by my father and my brother. My hope is that our return can be approached with maturity, dignity and mutual respect rather than speculation and division.
Britain remains a part of my story. Returning does not mean going backwards. It means looking ahead with greater understanding, protecting my family, and hopefully creating a better relationship between the people I love 🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️
