Congratulations Lorraine Richards for being selected as City of Montebello Citizen of the Month!
Thank you for your over a decade of volunteer service as Lead Advisor for our Youth & Government program (Y&G). We are blessed to have you as a freind of the Y, moreover our community!
Last night, the Montebello City Council proudly recognized Lorraine Richards as Montebello’s May 2026 Citizen of the Month! 👏👏👏
A lifelong Montebello resident, Lorraine has dedicated more than 30 years to serving students and families as a social studies teacher in the Montebello Unified School District. 🍎📚
Lorraine’s commitment to civic engagement extends far beyond the classroom. She advises the “My School Votes” club at Montebello High School, mentors local teens through the Montebello-Commerce YMCA Model Legislature and Court program, and actively supports the Montebello Ashiya Sister City Association by helping host student ambassadors from Ashiya, Japan. 🌎🤝
In addition to her local impact, Lorraine has served in leadership roles with the Montebello Teachers Association, California Teachers Association, and National Education Association, continuing to advocate for public education and student success at the local, state, and national levels.
