Last week, Kindergarten went to the Hands-On Science Center in Tullahoma, TN at no cost to families! Students got to see, feel, and experience things that they have read about in class. Everyone had a great time. Consider being a donor for United for Literacy and help us continue to offer these trips to students. All students deserve to see their learning come to life no matter their financial situations. Help us with our mission!

We had a United for Literacy board meeting yesterday, and we want to thank all of our donors. We have been able to provide educational field trips, including lunch and transportation, for all of the students at MES. We also have been able to provide two separate theatrical performances for the entire student body. As mentioned in our mission statement, we want our community of students to apply reading and writing from the classroom to real-world events and we are seeing them do this! We see some productive citizens coming our way in the near future. Now, speaking of donors and community members, we would love to hear from you. What do you envision United for Literacy doing to support MES students’ literacy skills as lifelong learners? We value your opinion. And as always, please visit our page to see how you can join in the fun and help support MES students.

Today, United for Literacy provided a wonderful interactive trip for the 8th grade class of MES. The students were immersed in an all day experience of gaining independence during the 1770s. This directly supports 8th grade History curriculum while bringing history to life! This trip was at no cost to families. We at United for Literacy want all students to experience these trips, and providing them for free to all students allows us to do that. Consider becoming a supporter today! See our page for details.

Great news on the UFL front! Educational field trips have begun at Monteagle Elementary School. The sixth grade class went to TPAC in Nashville to see The Wind in the Willows. The students were able to see an adaptation of a classic text come to life. We at United for Literacy aim to offer these trips as opportunities to build a love of learning in our students which will form them into success adults. Please consider becoming a supporter of UFL! Information about how to contribute is at the top of our page.
