A few snap shots from Ben Delatour Scout Camp. Learning skills, making new friends, having fun, shooting shotguns, acquiring a couple new knives from the gift shop, and most importantly, experiencing personal growth.

Nice quick 14 mile 2-night loop up Cat Creek and around. Scouts broke off from the dads for some independent wayfinding and compass work. Went well.

Heading out on a 2-night backpacking trip this morning. Got a good route, a solid plan, and we are prepared.

Last weekend the Troop visited Camp Alexander near Lake George CO. We climbed the ice wall, cooked, camped, ice fished, played sneaker hockey on the frozen lake, sledded, built a shelter for Ranger Tom in preparation for the 2026 summer camp season, and donated some mining equipment to the earth sciences program. It was a great time, lots of advancements were signed off, and scouts were challenged. The next 6 weeks' agenda includes completing our First Aid merit badge, Skiing at Wolf Creek, volunteering at the food bank, and a moonlight cross country trip to Big Meadows. What did your family do last weekend? Come Scout with us at https://beascout.scouting.org/list/?zip=81144&program%5B%5D=pack&program%5B%5D=scoutsBSA

The Troop rounded out their year by doing some maintenance on their trailer. Some years ago the axle got bent and it's been exhibiting bad tire wear. So last weekend, half of the unit (plus some dads) performed a full axle replacement. Who pulled the spring hangers? Scouts. Who rolled out the old axle and put it on stands? Scouts. Who busted u-bolts, lug nuts, and springs loose? Scouts. Who welded the new spring seats onto the new axle? Scouts (with the welding merit badge). Then they put the whole shebang back together with new u-bolts, tightened it all to torque, and rolled it out of the shop. The dads had critical jobs too. Cookie Quality Control was a top priority. Peanut gallery advice was appreciated, and wiggling some stuff so that bolt holes would line up was also appreciated. When we made a final check of the work we found no defects. None. Good work Scouts. Special thanks to Seth Adams for the hand, Jay Adams for the use of his shop and tools, and Mrs. Adams for the cookies and cocoa. Merry Christmas to all, and to all.... a bolt, tight!
