A few days ago, many of these children arrived as strangers.

Today, they’re teammates, adventure buddies, and friends. 💙

Camp Freedom is a place where kids living with Type 1 Diabetes can simply be kids—running, laughing, exploring, and making memories together.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what they need most.

☀️💙

From a STJDA Mom:

This photo was taken the day after my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. 💙

If you’re in that hospital room right now, I want you to know something:

You are going to be okay.

You won’t have all the answers today.
You will make mistakes.
Some numbers won’t make sense.

But day by day you’ll learn.
You’ll adapt.
And one day, the things that seem impossible right now will simply be part of your everyday life.

Ask questions. We are here to support you and your family in this journey. Please feel free to reach out whenever you need it. .

What do you wish someone had told you after diagnosis?

New World Screwworm has not been recorded in the Rio Grande Valley, yet. Still, we would like to remind all diabetics and their families of the importance of completely covering any wound, to safeguard against parasitization by this opportunistic pest.

We need your help! Like many small nonprofits, we do remarkable things with limited resources. Our animals currently live entirely outdoors, without shade structures or sheltered stalls in the deep South Texas' wild, wild weather. A newborn foal is particularly vulnerable, and the arrival of Pixel's baby has made our shelter needs urgent.

We are raising $25,000 to take care of Pixel's foal and to finally build the covered barn our animals have needed for years. Every dollar goes directly to their health and safety. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for donating & sharing our campaign!

It may be raining cats & dogs, elsewhere, but at Camp Freedom it's raining PONIES!!! Imagine our great surprise this morning to find that our prized Pixel delivered this beautiful paint foal.

We're pleased to announce that mother & baby are doing well--and in time to welcome our summer camp kids.
