Both officers were taken to the hospital. One was critically injured, authorities said.

The Montclair Firefighters Foundation regrets to announce the passing of Retired Lieutenant Jimmy Hinton. Lt. Hinton served with the MFD for 28 years from 1978-2006. Our condolences are with the family and friends of Lt. Hinton.

The Montclair Police Department is proud to have accepted a Gold Level recognition for its continued hard work and commitment to the mission of the NJ Safe Routes to School Program. Sergeant Carandang and Officer Jezewski of the Traffic Bureau accepted the honor at the 2024 EZ Ride Annual Recognition event on behalf of the department.
