Although it's nothing terribly creative, I was thinking about when I was a child and the (honestly, thankfully, few) times I was feeling sad or heartbroken, it was nice to turn to a good book and escape into another world. I was hoping we could create a "Library of Love" for Sandy Hook Elementary, fresh new books that will spread a little cheer, peave, love & comfort this Valentine's Day in CT. I
was looking for a few people who would like to collect these items from their family, co-workers and circle of friends, to help me send a heartfelt delivery to the school. But in a span of 24 hours, so many of my family, girlfriends, elementary, high school, college friends and their parents, facebook friends, teachers (with entire schools behind them!) and friends of friends have decided to help me. To anyone who is feeling helpless and wondering what they can do for Sandy Hook Elementary, please join us!!!! The process is simple:
-Pick up a new book, K-6 reading level, and ask friends/family co-workers to do the same.
-Write or pick up a Valentine’s Day card and include a positive message like you would find on a candy heart ("thinking of you", "you're cool", "you have a great smile!")
-Wrap the book(s) in just a ribbon with a bow (We don’t want anyone to be nervous about what’s inside of a wrapped package.)
-Give to your friend who is spear-heading this and will deliver the books to the school along with the Library of Love squad – or mail to 91 Fieldcrest Ave, Edison NJ 08837, c/o Regina LaCaruba.
-We’ll deliver the first or second weekend in February (tbd) prior to Valentine’s Day. THANK YOU to everyone who called, texted, msg'd me to be a part of the Library of Love squad. We will be making our very first delivery to Newtown, CT prior to Valentine’s Day. THANK YOU to my husband who has bought us a domain and will start creating us a website shortly (www.library-of-love.com) so we can share details and ideas.
