The New Jersey Covid Service Corps initiative hopes to rapidly boost the State’s capacity to address and ameliorate the devastating public health impact of COVID-19. The initiative hopes to help those in need by increasing vitally needed services to those community members most affected by the economic, physical and mental health repercussions of the pandemic. omotes health equity now and in the future by creating a coordinated, dedicated cadre of future public health leaders, the majority of whom represent the communities in which they serve; increasing and enhancing capacity for on-the-ground public health organizations to promote health equity; and helping to bring together the allied health fields which must work together for the greater public good.

On Friday, March 13th our AmeriCorps members closed out AmeriCorps week by cleaning up Paterson Skatepark. Members worked in teams of three to five people collecting trash, sharing experiences, and making memories with other AmeriCorps members. By the end of the clean up, the group had collected 11 full bags of garbage, an estimated 30 pounds of debris removed from the environment!

We are so thankful for all the hard work that our AmeriCorps members do and glad we got to spend some time with each other 💙

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, our team served alongside one another and local nonprofit organizations, including one of our amazing partners,

This inspiring day was led by our incredible AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator, Nereida, whose leadership helped us make a meaningful impact in our community. We are so proud of the dedication and passion our members bring to their service sites!

We were also honored to welcome Ryan, a board member of the NJ Commission on National and Community Service, who presented us with a proclamation from Governor Murphy.
