The Montague Branch of the Siskiyou County Library System has been in existence since 1915. For over 40 years, the branch was located in a store owned by Charles Schock, whom, with his wife Huldah, managed the book collection as “custodian." In 1956, the library was moved to Stuart’s Store where it remained until 1977; at which time it was moved to the renovated Montague School building (the current City Hall building) and the librarian described the room as “the closet” due to the small space of 13 feet by 11 feet. In the year 2000, the library was relocated to a larger room that stood empty after serving as the gymnasium for the old school. The stage within the old gymnasium is now our junior reader section and we very much appreciate all the effort made by those who fought to move the library into our current space.

The library will be closed Monday October 12th for Indigenous People's day.

I hope everyone has put the Candidate Forum on their calendar. Our City government has been in the news lately and this is your opportunity to learn about the candidates before you cast your vote.
We are continuing to accept questions. We want to ask the questions you want answers to so everyone is an informed voter. . All candidates have agreed to participate. Location has been moved to Community Hall. The response has been such, the Rotary Room might be too small. I look forward to hearing from everyone ahead of time and seeing you at the event.
