Each Wednesday and Thursday night, dozens of people gather at our warehouse to assemble large boxes of free food, including chicken, fish, Challah, grape juice, fruits and vegetable, eggs, and canned goods. Under the cover of darkness, volunteers then drive these food packages to struggling families' homes where they are discreetly left on their doorstep.
· Our volunteers consist of doctors,
lawyers, businessmen and students, all working side by side as they prepare food packages for the poor families. Though they are not aware of the recipients' identities, they go about their work with the same enthusiasm as if that emergency food package was destined for a brother or sister.
· Given the current financial situation, there are now more families in our community in financial distress then ever before. Numerous people have lost their jobs, many businessmen have failed, and the breadwinners of some families have been struck with illness or disability. Tomche Shabbos of Rockland County responds to these situations with programs that now include emergency food donations, job training, job placement and financial counseling.
· We remain dedicated to providing our assistance whenever these tragic situations occur.
