❤️THANK YOU Sharing Seats❤️
Dear Mike and the whole Chevra at Sharing Seats,
I cannot explain what an incredible chesed you guys have done for me over the past few months. After my daughter died last summer, you reached out asking what you could do for my family, and I was really not sure because we were still in the middle of Shloshim, and my kids were in camp, and we were doing okay, and I did not think that we really needed the help at the time. Despite that, I found out a couple months ago that you guys would still be able to make a huge difference for me and my family.
We had been trying for a while to figure out a way to go to Israel for the unveiling, and when my wife Sara found a really good deal to get tickets to Israel, we immediately booked them on a Friday afternoon.
The one issue was that even though we had a great deal to get to Israel, we didn't have a place to stay while we were there. I then had to figure out where we would stay for that week so that we would be able to do the unveiling for our daughter, Kiki.
Only then, I thought to reach out to Mike and Sharing Seats to see if there was some kind of way or even an idea of a way to help us out, even though I wasn't sure if this was anything that Sharing Seats had done in the past.
After reaching out to Mike on a whim, Mike told me that we would speak after Shabbos. The crazy thing was that he didn't even give me that long. Not even an hour later, he told me that he already had an Airbnb in Yerushalayim from his friend Baruki Cohen that we could stay in for that week. Obviously Sara and I were absolutely thrilled, and additionally since the apartment in Yerushalayim had plenty of space, my in-laws took the opportunity to come with us to also be there with us for the unveiling.
Once we got to Israel, we had an incredible experience. The owner was reaching out to us to make sure that everything was okay. Mike was reaching out to make sure that we were being taken care of (and of course we were) and we had the most amazing experience for the week in Israel. We were able to do the unveiling with a small group of our family and our kids were able to play with her sister and have some kind of closure. The four of us were even able to volunteer a bit, and even look at communities where we would like to live when we move to Israel in the future. We were even able to have a family get-together and pizza party at the apartment with some of our cousins who live in the area.
As I mentioned earlier, normally I like to be on the giving end of chesed. In the past year, however, I've learned that it's also important to know when one needs to be on the receiving end of chesed, and there's no shame in asking for help when there is a way to be helped.
Thank you so much to Mike, and the entire team at Sharing Seats for making this an incredible and meaningful experience for my family, and we hope that more people join the Sharing Seats family to be on the giving end for those who need it (even if they don't yet realize it).
With admiration and hopes for only besoros tovos,
Avi, Sara, Noam, and Daniella
