We had the best time celebrating 100 years of Route 66 at our Historic Homes Tour! ⛽️❤️🏠 Thanks to everyone who joined us, as well the homeowners, docents, and volunteers — without you, our annual tours would not be possible. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Celebrate Route 66 With MOHPG

On Sunday, May 3, the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group will once again be hosting a tour of its older homes and buildings. Making this year extra special is that 2026 is also the centennial for the “Mother Road,” which passed through Monrovia when it was inaugurated on November 11, 1926. All of the homes and businesses on tour this year lie along the original path of Route 66 through town. Join us in this celebration. Tickets are on sale at Charlie’s House, 430 S. Myrtle Avenue and online at https:www.mohpg.org. Advance tickets are $30 (The price goes up to $35 on tour day). Home Tour Fast Approaching
The 42nd Annual Historic Homes Tour is just over two weeks away, so if you haven’t secured your tickets for the event, now’s the time to do it. Ticket prices increase by $5 per ticket on the day of the event, so buying tickets ahead of time makes economic sense. The tour takes place on Sunday, May 3, from 10am to 4pm. There are nine different locations available to visit on tour day, and you can visit the locations in any order.

The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 42nd Annual Historic Homes Tour on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm. Open for viewing will be 8 different homes and businesses, all located along the original path of Route 66 through Monrovia. This year is the centennial for Route 66 so we are honoring the "Mother Road" as well as celebrating the architectural heritage of the town. Historic Walking Tour

MOHPG will be conducting a walking tour in Downtown Monrovia on Saturday, March 7, starting at 10 am. The cost is $5 per person, and the tour lasts approximately two hours. Meet at the SE corner of Myrtle and Palm Avenues.
Monrovia has a long and varied history, and that will be covered during the tour. This is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to learn more about the city and how it developed into the community it is today.

Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Monrovia

This Saturday, February 7, at 10 am, there will be a historic walking tour in downtown Monrovia. The cost is $5 per person and the tour lasts two hours. We will meet at the SE corner of Palm and Myrtle Avenues. The tour covers past and present Monrovia history, and one of the topics covered will be that of the library park drinking fountain which was installed in 1909 and sits at the corner of Myrtle and Lime Avenues. Learn the story about how it was almost destroyed and how it came to be rebuilt.

Did you know that Monrovia had a Carnegie Library? This is just one of many tidbits about the city’s history you will learn in detail if you join the tour. Landmark Workshop

The City of Monrovia and the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group are partnering to present for the community a workshop on landmarking a home/building in Monrovia. The workshop is free and open to the public one day only – Thursday, October 23, at 4 pm in the MONROE ROOM (previously we had indicated it would be in the Community Room) of the Monrovia Library. Staff members Sheri Bermejo and John Mayer will be on hand to walk attendees through the process of applying for landmark status and to answer questions about what it means.
If you have been thinking about landmarking your home, this workshop is for you. Get the information you need from the people who handle landmark applications.
