This is not KB but one of the Admins.

The weekend has almost arrived, but the work for the Bickel for Sheriff campaign team does not stop.

If you have some digital marketing chops, we could do with some support and help with the digital campaign.

Volunteering is also not a one-way street: the Bickel digital team is led by a heavy hitting digital campaigner (former Digital Director for Childfund International) and if you want it, you will get exposure and experience putting a political campaign together in the digital arena.

"What exactly would you change about [the] Sheriff's department?"

Here is my answer and thank you Joseph for bringing this up:

"Excellent question, probably the most important question. Given the limited space to address this question, I will start with this. I have a plan for the first 100 days with a focus on professionalism, integrity, transparency and accountability. We and I say we, because command staff, rank and file personnel, and community stakeholders will be active participants in charting the course for the future of the sheriff’s office – will begin by reestablishing the Citizen Advisory Board.

We will invest in personnel, the most important asset in the sheriff’s office by getting rid of the good ole boy leadership system that has strangled innovation and damaged morale. Promotions and duty assignments will be based on objective merit-based criteria and not a sycophantic selection process. Leadership development and mentoring opportunities will be introduced, and promotional criteria and evaluation standards will be published.

Introduction of Procedural Justice both internally and in external operations will take place, making fairness a centerpiece of sheriff’s office business. By day 100 a five-year strategic plan will be developed with input from rank-and-file personnel and community stakeholders. The plan will focus on collaborative crime prevention efforts and preparation for emerging public order threats as well as improved stewardship of taxpayer resources."

When elected, there will be an end to sycophants achieving promotions based on loyalty to Jenkins.

Command down through all levels will be promoted and assessed based upon merit and the principles of Procedural Justice, not loyalty or connection to an ideology.

The men and women serving in , taxpayers and wider community are owed absolutely nothing less.

As my coffee takes effect this morning, this caught my eye.

Our neighboring county, however none of us can be under any illusions what such a 'facility' would be used for.

One of my concerns with this rapid expansion of detention facilities is what happens to them when no immigrants are left to detain?

I don't see this President and sycophants such as Chuck Jenkins, quietly dismantling them.

So who else would they put in them?

Public comments close July 1.

Maryland took DHS to court and won the first round. A federal judge halted the proposed 825,000 sq. ft. ICE detention warehouse in Washington County and forced DHS to conduct the review it tried to skip.

Morning Thoughts

Now the Primary is wrapped up, my mind moves towards the November election and how we will win.

First, we must focus and we must unite.

The Jenkins machine is not unstoppable, but his base are tight knit and unified, for right or wrong this is a fact.

We believe the base Jenkins commands is his greatest advantage, but it is also his Achilles Heel.

He cannot win with just his base, no more than we can win with ours alone.

So, we must focus on the issues confronting law enforcement and the Sheriff's office in Frederick County.

We must unite and move forward as one with a vision for what law enforcement looks like for Frederick County.

And we must provide Independents and Moderates with a viable, articulate plan true to our Democrat values which we will execute upon when elected.

It is clear to the Nation which party's values are truly American - Integrity, Honor, Trust, Fairness, Inclusion, Loyalty and all equal under the law.

I have a lot of faith in my campaign team, you may have noticed a subtle change in approach and for good reason.

If we unite and we rally Democrats, Independents and Moderates to our cause we achieve two important goals:

1. My team projects we win the Sheriff race by 8 points in November - that is mighty bold, but that is the prize and reward for unifying and gaining the trust of the electorate; and

2. We earn the decisive mandate to improve law enforcement in Frederick County for everyone in this community, including the men and women at the sharp end of this deal who have had to manage the Jenkins Drama - the Deputies and personnel of FCSO.

If we fail to unite, we lose. If we fail to earn the trust of Moderates and Independents we lose.

I do not like losing.

So let's all agree on something - we will win this office come November!

Thank you very much to all of those who voted for me in this primary election. Thanks to all who supported our team’s effort. And a special thanks to Jason Ciemielewski and Tony Lawson, gentlemen and primary opponents, who helped me take a serious look at the issues of the day.

To Jason and Tony, I want to borrow the words of President Theodore Roosevelt "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

They, their families, their friends and supporters should be very proud of them. I am!
