E-Rate is a program that provides discounts to libraries and schools to provide affordable internet access. As a library, we have people coming in to use our public computers and wi-fi every day. The program saves Allegheny County over $800,000 a year.

People use their public libraries' Internet for all kinds of things: connecting with family, applying for jobs, online banking, filling out federal and state forms, signing up for benefits, and so much more.

If you'd like to voice your support, you can write a letter or make a call to your senators and representative. The FCC also has public comment open.
