💚Friends of Monroe County Public Library Member EMILY WILLIAMS and her grandchildren, BLAIR WILLIAMS and HANKINS WILLIAMS, reported having “a blast” on the brand‑new Children’s Floor 🎈📘—made possible in part through Friends support! “Yaya” Emily knew that The Library would be the ideal place for summer fun while her grandchildren visited from Nashville at the end of July 🌞💫. 💙Friends of Monroe County Public Library (FMCPL) 📚 are proud to have funded this *SIGN* of progress at the Library—the brand‑new exterior SIGN, now standing at 121 Pineville Road off the square of downtown Monroeville, the production of which was managed by The Friends. The new sign ensures a welcoming, clearly visible landmark for all who visit the Library. Thank you to our FMCPL members, grantees, donors, and supporters—your contributions make projects like this possible. The Library is better than ever, and we’re excited about its future as The Friends continue to help Monroe County’s library thrive.

REVIEW: I recently listened to the audiobook of The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett, author of the bestselling novel The Help. It was an entertaining story from beginning to end. The story is filled with humor, friendship, unexpected situations, and plenty of twists that kept me interested. The characters were fun to get to know, and I enjoyed seeing how their relationships developed throughout the story. If you are looking for a book or audiobook with a story that keeps you wondering what will happen next, I highly recommend The Calamity Club.

💙Friends of Monroe County Public Library 📚 (FMCPL) is over the moon 🌙✨ to help bring the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC LITTLE KIDS FIRST BIG BOOK OF SPACE to Monroe County Public Library (MCPL) ! Kids may now obtain the book from the library to experience the brand‑new ⭐️Science Discovery on Main Street Constellation Trail⭐️—launched June 30, 2026, by Monroeville Main Street, guided by FMCPL Member Anne Marie Bryan, in partnership with The Library.

The Friends invite stargazers 🤩 of all ages to explore the stars over downtown Monroeville, Alabama. Join other astronomy enthusiasts in the Monroe County Dark Sky Amateur Astronomy Club 🌌, discover the Monroeville night sky with the special Star Guide 🌟, learn about constellations using SkyView® Lite, a free Apple or Android phone app, and soon borrow telescopes 🔭 or binoculars 👀 from the Library for enhanced viewing of the cosmos. Congratulations to 2026 Friends of Monroe County Public Library (FMCPL) Bake-Sale Manager Sammye Long on the wildly successful Pre-4th of July Grab & Go Bake Sale on June 29, 2026, which featured such a wide variety of tasty treats like the chilled, fresh strawberry cake, as well as the chilled, fresh banana strawberry pie, in addition to a vast array of main dishes, donated by community cooks and purchased by supportive patrons, to whom we say thank you.
