Some people leave a lasting impact not because of what they accomplish, but because of how they make others feel.

Corey Rhodes was one of those people.

Over the years, Corey supported The Little Fox - Toby’s Foundation while also dedicating himself to helping others through the Rhodes Cancer Foundation. Whether he was volunteering at our annual Stuff-A-Truck, joining us at a golf outing, or supporting another Foundation event, Corey always showed up with a smile, a willingness to help, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

What stood out most about Corey was that helping others was never something he did when it was convenient. Even while facing his own cancer journey, he focused on serving others, bringing comfort to patients and families, supporting important research, and giving back to his community. That spirit of generosity and selflessness is something we will always remember.

This article is a beautiful reflection of the man we were fortunate enough to know.

As an extension of the Stern family, and on behalf of everyone at The Little Fox - Toby’s Foundation, we are grateful for the opportunity to have known Corey, worked alongside him, and called him a friend.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, and everyone touched by his life and legacy.

He will be deeply missed. 🧡

Corey Rhodes was selfless, even after years of undergoing cancer treatment. The Southmoreland graduate, an East Huntingdon resident, created the Rhodes Cancer Foundation in 2024 to provide free meals for other patients undergoing cancer treatment. The nonprofit has provided 1,500 free meals, donated...

Today, Toby would have turned 10 years old. 🧡

A whole decade.

Ten years of loving him.
Ten years of missing him.
Ten years of remembering the 12 weeks and 5 days that changed our lives forever.

When Toby died from SIDS, we never could have imagined where his story would lead us. What started with safe sleep education and SIDS awareness slowly became something much bigger through the stories and heartbreak shared by grieving families across the country.

We learned quickly that grieving parents were carrying so much more than loss. Many felt alone. Forgotten. Unsupported. Like their baby’s life didn’t matter to the world around them.

And we knew that had to change.

Over the last 10 years, Toby’s life has become the heartbeat behind our mission to remind families that their babies matter, their grief matters, and their stories deserve to be spoken out loud.

As the years passed, we also witnessed grief through the eyes of Toby’s brothers, Lucas and Zeke. Their love for him and the way loss shaped our family reminded us that grief impacts entire families, not just parents. That realization helped shape the work we do today and the support we provide to grieving families across the country.

To honor Toby’s 10th birthday, we are launching:

90 Days for Toby 🧡

https://givebutter.com/tobys-10th-birthday-sgjost

From May 27 through August 24, we will be raising funds for SIDS research in Toby’s name, with donations supporting ongoing research at Boston Children’s Hospital and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

If you would like to honor Toby’s birthday and help us continue this mission, we invite you to:
🧡 Make a one-time donation
🧡 Give anytime throughout the 90-day campaign
🧡 Honor your own baby through a gift in their memory
🧡 Help us continue funding research and supporting grieving families
🧡 Share Toby’s story and help us continue spreading awareness around grief, infant loss, and SIDS

After 10 years, we still believe families deserve answers.
We still believe every baby deserves to be remembered.
And we still believe no child should ever be forgotten.

Happy 10th Birthday, Toby. 🧡

If Toby’s story or this foundation has touched your life in any way over the last decade, we would love for you to leave a birthday message, memory, or note for him in the comments below.

Today is Bereaved Mother’s Day.

A day that honors the mothers who carry both deep love and deep loss, often at the same time, in the same breath.

To the mothers in our community, your motherhood did not end. It did not disappear with the absence of your child’s physical presence.

It lives on in the way you love, the way you remember, and the way you continue forward while carrying what most will never fully understand.

Today, we speak your babies’ names. We honor their lives, no matter how brief, and the lasting imprint they have on your heart and your family.

We see you. We remember with you. We honor you.

You are, and always will be, their mother. 🤍

There are moments when words feel impossibly small.

This is one of them.

Over the weekend, we lost a mother from our Toby’s Foundation community… Khystren… and her beautiful daughter, Olive.

Many of you may remember Khystren from our Fall 2024 retreat. She showed up with a quiet strength, an open heart, and a deep love for her family. She carried her son, Jupiter, with her in everything she did, and she shared him so openly with all of us. That weekend, she became part of a circle of women who now feel this loss in a way that is hard to put into words.

Before ever attending a retreat, Khystren was already part of this community… lifting others up, sharing our mission, and helping more grieving families find their way to us. That was who she was. Someone who believed deeply that every mother should have the chance to love on their babies… and who still found ways to give joy, even while carrying her own grief.

We are heartbroken.

We are grieving not only the loss of Khystren, but the loss of sweet Olive…and we are holding her husband, David, and their children so close in our hearts right now.

To the mothers who sat beside her, who shared space with her, who laughed, cried, and honored their babies together…we are grieving with you.

This is the part of our community that no one ever wants to face…and yet, here we are, holding each other again through unimaginable loss.

We will continue to say her name.
We will continue to say their names.

Khystren. Olive. Jupiter.

And we will carry her spirit forward in the way she lived…with love, with light, and with a deep desire to make sure no grieving mother feels alone.

If you feel called, we invite you to read her obituary below and to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
There was a quiet ache no words could pronounce.
For babies once hoped for, and babies once held—
For moments too brief, and love that still dwells.

Some were felt in the womb, known only by heart.
Some filled arms for weeks, then were asked to depart.
Some left memories small, but love vast and true,
Etched deep into souls by the time that they knew.

Some parents are facing their first Christmas apart.
Others carry the ache through years in their heart.
And time has not softened the love that remains—
It simply learns how to live alongside the pain.

So tonight, if your arms feel painfully bare,
Or you’re missing the weight of the child once there,
Please know this is love that will not disappear—
Your baby is held. Your baby is near.

Forever your child.
Forever your love. 🤍

Yesterday was an incredible day for our community. 🎁🧡

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our event, or stopped by to help us fill the trucks at Dad’s Pub & Grub in Monroeville and Braddock Hills. Your generosity will bring joy to so many families supported by Play it Forward Pittsburgh this holiday season.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to our volunteers — you are the reason this event runs smoothly every year. From collecting and sorting to loading every last toy on the truck, your time and energy make an enormous impact.

And a very special thank you to Dad's Pub & Grub Monroeville and ’s Pub & Grub Braddock Hills and Don Farr Moving, our partners for nine years, who have helped us grow this event into a tradition that continues to honor Toby and spread joy across Western PA. We are so grateful for your support, your space, and your belief in this mission.

Because of all of you, our 9th Annual Stuff-A-Truck was a success — and we can’t wait for the families to recieve these special gifts for their children for the holiday season.

Thank you for helping us deliver HOPE again this holiday season. 🧡✨
