In addition to investigating animal cruelty crimes and providing sanctuary and rehabilitation to animals who have suffered from abuse and neglect, we also advocate for better laws to protect animals and work to educate the public about how they can help end animal suffering. Through our uniquely comprehensive programs, we are able to help thousands of animals every year and spread a message of compassion to countless people.

This is Ponyo, a cat who arrived at our spay/neuter clinic with a life-threatening complication called "dystocia", where a mother cannot naturally deliver her kittens during labor. Without immediate medical intervention, dystocia is fatal. Our team had to act fast.

Thanks to our incredible partners at People for Animal Care & Kindness, who covered the costs of her emergency spay, our team was able to begin Ponyo's surgery immediately. We got to work and thankfully were able to remove a kitten stuck inside her, saving her life. Ponyo is now safely recovering with her babies and will never have another litter.

A rare sight from Chicken Castle today: a peahen egg! These beautiful birds lay about 12 to 20 eggs a year, and only during a very short window in the spring and summer. They are about twice the size of a chicken egg and have a much thicker, cream-colored shell.

Because our resident peahens are bachelorettes, this egg won't hatch into a peachick. Instead, our lovely ladies - India and Dharma - will eat their own unfertilized eggs to reclaim the vital nutrients and calcium lost during the laying process! 🥚

We've been taking our rescue dogs on field trips to the river to get a break from the heat. It is amazing to see them strong and confident, pushing themselves through the water and splashing around with big smiles on their faces. We're so grateful to have this community's support, which allows us to provide long-term rehabilitation for these incredible cruelty survivors.

WE DID IT! Today we performed our 80,000th low cost spay/neuter surgery! Pasado's started Washington’s first mobile spay/neuter clinic over 25 years ago, and we can’t wait for the exciting next chapter we have coming.

Congratulations to our amazing clinic team, and a huge thank you to everyone who supports this critical work to reduce pet overpopulation and unnecessary euthanasia. Special shoutout to Maximus, our adorable 80,000th client. 💚

Great news! We are doubling the number of low-cost vaccine clinics we offer in Pierce County. Pasado's will be providing affordable vaccines, flea/mite treatment, microchips, FIV/FeLV tests, and dewormer twice a month.

ATTENTION PARENTS: We think your child is the next animal rights leader, and we want to help get them there.

Pasado's is accepting applications for LEAP - Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet — a trailblazing youth program shaping the next generation of animal welfare leaders, held right here at the sanctuary.

Students will help care for rescued animals, learn about cruelty investigations, explore topics like climate change and food justice, and build the leadership skills needed to make our world a better place. This program is completely free to all young people who want to help animals.

Who said fundraisers have to be boring? Pasado's Celebration of Love is kicking off with some real Super Bowl champion energy. The Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline is coming to make some noise for the animals!

LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE! We have space every Wednesday in September at our Renton clinic for dogs under 20lbs and male cats. Accepting patients from all counties!

Please help us make sure these rare spaces don't go to waste. Surgery is just $100, compared to traditional vet clinics that often charge upwards of $400.
