The Library has 10 branches and a bookmobile located throughout the parish to serve you.

The Friends of the Ouachita Public Library book sale will be open tomorrow on Friday, August 28th from 9am-3pm and Saturday, August 29th from 9am-3pm!

The members only presale will be this evening, August 27th, and will run from 4pm-6pm. If you are not already a Friends member, you can sign up at the door, or visit your local library branch to fill out an application.

The West Ouachita branch library is still closed for repairs, but the book sale will be open and operational in the warehouse connected to the library.

On Wednesday, August 19th, all branches of the Ouachita Parish Public Library will have a planned network migration to our new facility at 1000 Oliver Rd.

This migration will last all day. Calls, faxing, web printing, and Wi-Fi will be unavailable.

The use of regular library check outs, e-services, and use of the copiers will be available at all other branch locations.

We look forward to serving our community at our new location soon!

This past Saturday, Ouachita Valley branch library hosted OPPL's Bikes for Books ceremony, and it's safe to say that there were smiles all around.

At the end of our summer reading challenge, one child from each of our ten library branches is awarded a bike for being a top reader. We would like to thank our sponsors Kiwanis Club of Greater Ouachita and Pilot Club of the Twin Cities for providing bikes and helmets!

We would also like to thank every patron that participated in this year's challenge by reading, engaging in workshops, and attending book talks. Our mission is to advance literacy, inspire lifelong learning, and strengthen our community by serving everyone.

Thank you for another wonderful summer Ouachita Parish!

The Ouachita Parish Main branch library will close Tuesday, August 18th at 7pm in preparation to begin the moving process to our new location at 1000 Oliver Rd. in Monroe.

The Main branch will remain closed until we reopen at our new location in mid-September.

All other library branch locations will remain open during this period of time. As a reminder, digital services are available 24/7 for library cardholders.

The Ouachita Parish Public Library would like to provide an update regarding the continued closure of the West Ouachita Branch

188 Hwy 546, West Monroe, LA

Following the severe ice storm, the Branch sustained extensive damage to both the roof and the interior of the building. Assessing the full scope of the damage and determining the necessary repairs has been a lengthy and involved process, requiring multiple inspections, assessments, and evaluations by engineers, insurance representatives, and other professionals.

We understand the inconvenience this extended closure has caused our patrons and the surrounding community, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. Our staff and partners have been working diligently to ensure that all the necessary steps are completed properly so that repairs can move forward safely and effectively.

We are encouraged by the progress that has been made and remain hopeful that repair work will begin soon. Our goal is to reopen the West Ouachita Branch as quickly as possible while ensuring the facility is restored to a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The Friends of the Library will continue to have their monthly Book Sales at the West Ouachita Branch unless and until repairs prevent this.

We look forward to serving the West Ouachita community again and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Ouachita Parish Public Library is excited to announce that it is partnering with Prime Time, Inc., and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) to offer Prime Time Family Boxes at the Carver-McDonald branch library starting Tuesday, July 14th through Wednesday, July 29th.

The Prime Time Family Box is an all-in-one box of carefully chosen and thematically grouped children’s books, accompanied by an easy to use Grown-Up Guide to facilitating discussion and activities in reading for children ages 6-10.

On July 14th, families may apply to receive a Prime Time Family Box by visiting Carver-McDonald branch library, or by calling (318)327-477. There is no cost to families.

Distribution will occur on on Thursday, July 30th at 4pm during the Prime Time launch day event at Carver-McDonald branch.
