We spent the day today at the Marine Corp museum and the National Army Museum. Riley and Charlie had an amazing time at both museums. We are boarding our plane here shortly and headed for Portland this evening.

It’s been a long day for Charlie and Riley. They spent the afternoon at the Marine Corp memorial, the Navy Memorial, Air Force Memorial, the Woman Veterans Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Finished the night off with a dinner provided by the Loudoun Elks Lodge and mail call. They have another busy day planned for tomorrow as well before we load the planes to fly back to Portland tomorrow evening.

As we embark on this trip of a lifetime for these veterans we drove through the town of Coburg and the whole school came out to wave to us on our way. Coburg Charter School had done this for every honor flight since they started in 2012.

It’s that time of year again where we are accepting essays for our Voice of Democracy competition for high school students and our Patriots Pen competition for middle school students. It’s an easy way for our kids to possibly win some money to help pay for college. All they need to do is scan the WR code on the flyer and it will walk them through registering. This years essay theme is “What a Veteran taught me about America”. We look forward to seeing some essays from our local kids! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we will help all we can!
