Come on down to the Monroe Festival today from 10:00 to 6:00 today and get your raffle tickets! As always, its winner takes everything you see on the tables. That’s the Traeger, the griddle, the cooler, fire pit, pizza oven, an 11 foot patio umbrella, seven cases of beer, 14 bottles of wine, 38 bottles of booze, gift certificates to four local wineries, and one cord of firewood. Ten dollars a ticket, we are drawing the winner on the second Wednesday of August! If you want tickets and can’t make it, reach out here and we can get you taken care of.

Earlier this month we were able to spend some time up at the Monroe Cemetery clearing some land for the future Urn Garden they are putting in. Dug out a lot of rock and root balls, made a big pile of firewood if anyone is interested. The cemetery association will be selling it to help raise funds for future projects. Just reach out and we will get you in touch with the right people.

Come on out and check out the festival tomorrow! We will be there selling raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser.

If anyone needs help with filing for veterans benefits or survivor benefits. Mark Lapiknis, a Benton County Veterans Service Officer, will be at the Community center / Legion Hall on Wednesday the 11th from 12:30 to 4:00. Mark has been a tremendous help to several of our local veterans already and works extremely hard to continue to help veterans and their families.

We spent the day yesterday helping out a local veteran who purchased a piece of property that for years had been a dumping ground. With the help of a local church we were able to haul off 27,000 pounds of trash to the landfill. It was a long day with two skid steers, an excavator and three large dump trailers making eight trips to the landfill. We are glad we were able to help make a difference in his life as this mess would have taken one person an extremely long time with nothing but a pitchfork and a pickup.
