At last night's Annual Meeting, Kelly Laton and Larry Love were re-elected to the Board of Directors. They will each serve a three-year term.

Thankful we were able to assist Waxhaw Fire Department with this incident yesterday. Strong partnerships are at the heart of the volunteer fire service, and we're always proud to work alongside our neighboring departments when our communities need us.

Monroe Fire Explorers will meet Thursday July 16th @ 9am. Location will be 550 Quarry Road Monroe NC 28110. Our explorer program is for youth ages 14-20. Come check it out.

Stay hydrated

The Heat Advisory previously issued has been upgraded to an Extreme Heat Warning across northern counties. The Heat Advisory (in southern counties) and Extreme Heat Warning (in northern counties) are both in effect for Friday AND Saturday. In addition, an air quality alert remains in effect Friday from 10am to 8pm for Wake, Durham, and Granville counties.

🎆 Celebrate the 4th. Stay Safe.
Nothing ruins Independence Day faster than a trip to the emergency room or a fire that could have been prevented.
If you're celebrating with fireworks this weekend, remember a few simple safety tips:
🇺🇸 Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
🇺🇸 Never allow children to handle fireworks.
🇺🇸 Only light one firework at a time.
🇺🇸 Never relight a firework that doesn't go off.
🇺🇸 Keep a safe distance from people, homes, vehicles, and dry grass.
The best way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional display.
We hope you have a fun, safe, and happy Independence Day. If an emergency does happen, call 911 immediately.

☀️ It's HOT out there, Sandy Ridge! ☀️
The heat isn't just uncomfortable—it can become dangerous in a hurry. Whether you're working outside, cutting the grass, enjoying the pool, or watching ball games, take a few extra minutes to protect yourself and those around you.
💧 Drink plenty of water (even if you don't feel thirsty)
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
👕 Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing
🐾 Don't forget your pets—they need plenty of fresh water and shade too
👵 Check on elderly family members and neighbors who may not have access to air conditioning
And here's one we see every summer: please don't leave kids or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute. Temperatures inside a car can become deadly much faster than most people realize.
Our volunteers are always ready to respond, but we'd much rather see everyone stay safe and enjoy the summer.
