Around 3:00 PM this afternoon, a brush fire was reported in the common area of the Meriweather neighborhood behind our community, near the end of Blazing Star Drive and Coral Bell Drive.

The fire was contained at approximately 7:00 PM this evening. Fire crews have established a barrier line, and the remaining area will be allowed to burn out under supervision. As a result, residents may notice the smell of smoke for some time.

To access and combat the fire, emergency vehicles utilized our walking trails and common areas. Crews entered through the Blazing Star walking trail and drove into the wooded area. In order to reach the fire, they also had to clear and create a temporary access path for their vehicles.

We appreciate the efforts of the firefighters and emergency personnel who worked to contain the fire and protect the surrounding communities.

Our community yard sale will take place on May 9th, with a rain date scheduled for May 16th. Event signage will be installed at the front of the neighborhood on Tuesday, May 5th.

Please note that HOA dues are due by May 1st.

With the recent increase in solicitors in the neighborhood, the board may not always be able to address them promptly. As a resident, you may ask solicitors if they have a valid permit, which they are required to carry. If they do not have one, you can inform them that the Town of Indian Trail requires a permit and ask them to leave. To further help reduce solicitors, residents may consider placing a “No Soliciting” sign in their yard.

A Clear Warning Before Fines and Charges Follow

We’ve noticed a clear uptick in juveniles riding dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and other unregistered or uninsured vehicles on state-maintained roads, across private property, and even into local business parking lots almost as if they are attempting a so called “takeover.”

Let us be clear, this is not harmless fun. It’s dangerous, it’s illegal, and it puts riders, drivers, pedestrians, property owners, and business operators at risk.

While some jurisdictions may look the other way, we will not. These behaviors will not be tolerated in Union County.

Parents and guardians, please understand if your child chooses to ride in this manner, you may be held legally responsible. Citations can be issued, charges can be filed, and vehicles can be seized.

We encourage families to have the conversation now before a fun afternoon turns into fines, court dates, injuries, or worse.

Let’s keep our roads safe, respect private property, and ensure our community remains a place where everyone can live and work without unnecessary risk.

It is understandable that people want their dogs outside with them, they are part of the family. But please keep an eye on the surroundings. If people are walking, especially with their dogs, please have your dogs beside you or put away. A dog will not stop just by you yelling stop if they are running. Our neighbors have the right to walk safely around the neighborhood.
