On this day, we will highlight the fact that, according to 2024 Census data, the wage gap for women compared to men is 81 cents on the dollar for full-time, year-round workers. When you look at all earners, including full-time, year-round earners, part-time, and part-year workers, the wage gap widens to 76 cents. These wage gaps are unacceptable. Women continue to be underpaid and undervalued.

The New Orleans Club of the Louisiana Federation of Business & Professional Women, Inc. joined Congressman Troy Carter’s 33rd Annual Friends & Family Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Dinner — and what a beautiful day of service it was!

Thousands of meals were prepared for seniors, families, and neighbors across Algiers. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back and be part of a tradition that has touched over 10,000 lives through the years.

A big THANK YOU to our Southeast District Liaison Assistant Elect and New Orleans Club Treasurer, Rosemaria Broussard, for leading our participation and ensuring BPW was represented with excellence. Thank you to BPW New Orleans Club members, Kaaren Grimes and Hon. KaTrina Chantelle Griffin, for volunteering your time.

Today we honor Women's Equality Day and the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
Why the yellow rose? In Tennessee - the final state to vote on women's suffrage, supporters wore yellow roses, while opponents wore red roses. History turned when one young legislator, moved by a note from his mother, changed his vote. Yellow roses won and history turned.
It's important to remember though, that not all women gained the right to vote in 1920. Women of color and many others continued their fight for decades more. Today, we honor both the victory and the unfinished struggle, carrying forward the legacy of those who never gave up.
"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of s*x." Celebrating 105 years since the passage of the 19th Amendment.
