Pride Month gratitude continues as we say THANK YOU to Jesse Fish for his generosity and support for Monroe Pride 2025!

🌈Monroe Pride does not happen without the financial support of local community members and businesses. As we continue through Pride month, we want to thank our sponsors.

Jessica Claybrook-Holtz, owner of Adkinson Estates Adult Family Home not only sponsored Monroe Pride 2025, but spoke in the memory of her mom.

“Hello everyone, my name is Jessica Claybrook Holtz, I’m here to honor my late mother, Melonie Adkinson Claybrook, who was a community member of Monroe and worked within the public schools since 2000. She retired in 2009 after having an astrocytoma tumor removed from her brain and undergoing chemotherapy radiation.

We’re here today to celebrate her advocacy of LGBTQ youth in our community. In 2006, she and a few other amazing staff members supported forming the first Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) at Monroe High School.

My mom felt called to stand up and speak out for students who did not have the blessing of receiving acceptance from their families or support systems when they were away from the high school grounds. Earlier that year, a student by the name of Michael Brown committed s*****e because sadly, he did not have that safe space of acceptance from those who he deserved it from.

She was a proud ally for others and never backed down from calling out injustice. As I was preparing for this today, it was very important to me to recognize my mother‘s bravery and strength in standing up for what is right. There is still so much ahead of us now almost 20 years later.

As our shirts and stickers read my mom felt, “Once you’re my friend, you’re my friend for life. “ I want to end by encouraging you to channel your own strengths in what you believe. Be that ally- for yourself and for others.

We just wanted to take a moment to thank all of the Monroe business who have agreed to put up posters for Monroe Pride 2025. Over the next month our amazing group of volunteers will be visiting different businesses throughout town, if you have a poster up and want a shout out, take a picture and send it our way!

A special thanks to Monroe Floral and to Lovers in Monroe as well. Thank you so much for showing your support!

Come join us at Medusa's Mark today!!!! The wonderful artists are hosting a flash tattoo event where they are donating all of the proceeds to help make sure our Monroe Pride event can happen this year. Behind the scenes they have been donating their time and space all year for planning committees, helping create assets for the Monroe Pride team to use on our pages and overall being incredible human beings. Come join us on Main Street at Medusa's Mark and get a new tattoo! We love all of you!

This event celebrates love, inclusion, and the vibrant LGBTQ+ community! Did you know that the modern Pride movement traces its roots to the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City? That brave stand sparked a global push for LGBTQ+ rights and equality. From arts to activism, the LGBTQ+ community has always been at the forefront of societal change, contributing immeasurably to culture, science, and human rights.

Join us for an unforgettable day of celebration and community! Don’t forget to bring a blanket or lawn chair to kick back and enjoy the festivities. See you there!

🌈As we begin to ramp up for Monroe Pride 2025 we wanted to start with thanks to each and every one of you for being a part of what makes this event wonderful.

Throughout the next few months you will see posts from us about the festival, where to make donations, and what to expect this year!
