Today is a very special Sunday at New Hope! 💚🌿

This morning, we’re celebrating the beautiful success of Wild & Loved VBS 2026 and all that God did in and through these incredible days together.

Come step back into the forest with us, be amazed by the beauty of God’s creation, and gather by the waterfall as we give thanks to our good Father for His goodness, His love, and His many blessings. 🌲💚

And the celebration doesn’t stop there! Our NEW series continues today as we keep exploring the work and presence of the Holy Spirit; the same Spirit who is still moving, shaping, and working through ordinary people today.

It’s going to be a beautiful morning of worship, gratitude, and celebration.

📖 Joel

💡 Big Idea

God calls His people to return to Him and promises restoration and the gift of His Spirit.

🔖 Brief Summary

Joel describes a devastating locust plague that brings destruction to the land of Judah. Joel uses this crisis to call God’s people to repentance and warn about the coming “day of the Lord.” Yet the book is also filled with hope. God promises compassion, restoration, and renewal for those who return to Him. Joel looks forward to a day when God will pour out His Spirit on all people and ultimately dwell with His people.

“Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love.” (NRSV Updated Edition)

A terrible swarm of locusts destroyed the land, but Joel reminded God’s people that they could always turn back to Him. 🦗💚 God promised to care for them, restore what had been lost, and pour out His Spirit. When we make mistakes, we can always come back to God because He is loving and merciful.

This week on Everyday Priests 🌍💚

S: Send - The Priestly Commission Into the World

We arrive at the final movement.

Send. 🌍

The priesthood was never meant to remain behind sacred walls.

It exists for the world.

This is the commissioning.

We go forth as Everyday Priests, bearing presence, story, and love into every corner of ordinary life.

Like the priests who lifted their hands in blessing at the temple gate…

Like Jesus breathing peace upon the disciples… 🕊️

We end with sending.

Sending is not departure.

It is dispersal.

Sabbath becomes a community releasing one another from the demands of production.

We bind ourselves to rest.

We loose one another from work.

And we go as a people who carry God’s blessing wherever we are sent.

Because every ordinary day becomes holy ground when we are sent in Christ’s peace. 💚

Let this be your conversation starter this week. Around coffee. Around the kitchen table. In the car. Before bedtime.

Aim for at least one question that challenges assumptions and one that invites a real story.

Have you ever tried to listen when the room was really loud?

Was it hard?

What is one quiet moment this week when God might be saying something small and gentle, just for you?

Think of one friend whose story you have never really asked to hear.

What is one question you could ask them this week?

Can you promise yourself you will not add your own story to theirs until they are completely finished telling it?

👨‍👩‍👧 For the Grown Ups
Of the three invitations we heard this morning…

• Listen for the voices you have not asked.
• Hold your volume together with the whole church.
• Refuse to rush grief into resolution.

Which one is hardest for you right now?

What does it cost the people around you when you cannot practice it?

📖 Hosea

💡 Big Idea

God’s faithful love never gives up on His people.

🔖 Brief Summary

Hosea tells the story of God’s unwavering love for Israel through the prophet Hosea’s marriage to Gomer. Just as Gomer was unfaithful to Hosea, Israel had been unfaithful to God by worshiping idols and turning away from Him. Yet, instead of abandoning His people, God continually called them to repentance and promised restoration. Hosea beautifully illustrates God’s covenant love, mercy, and desire to redeem those who return to Him.

“For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” (NRSV Updated Edition)

🗝️ Hosea prophesied to the northern kingdom of Israel before its fall to Assyria.

Hosea loved Gomer even when she made wrong choices. 💙 God used their story to show how much He loves us. Even when we make mistakes, God never stops loving us and always welcomes us back when we turn to Him. 🤗
