Dolly update 💖

For everyone who has been asking about little Dolly: mama cat took her in as one of her own, and her new siblings did too. She’s growing right alongside them, and as of today, we have one little eye open! ❤️

Disclaimer: Be sure to observe from a safe distance before removing a seemingly alone kitten, since mama cats may leave briefly to find food or occasionally move their litters. If a kitten has been crying continuously for an extended period, is cold, visibly sick or injured, or is in danger, they probably need help. In Dolly’s case, she had reportedly been crying and in distress for nearly two days. So getting her to a nursing mama quickly was the best option.

🎨🐾 Pottery with a Purpose! 🐾🎨

We have ANOTHER super fun collaboration to announce this week!

We’re excited to partner with Clay and Canvas Art Studio for a fun and creative pottery event benefiting River Cities! 💜

Come spend some time getting creative, make your very own pottery piece, and help support the animals in our community while you’re at it. 🐾

Each participant will get to make a super cute pet bowl from scratch, which will be ready for pickup at the October Downtown Gallery Crawl! You will also get to make unique pocket pets that the shelter will hold an adoption event for at Clay and Canvas during the gallery crawl to benefit the River Cities Kitties!

Whether you’re an experienced artist or just want to try something new, this is a fun event for everyone—and every purchase helps us continue the work we do for local animals.

Another Kitten Yoga is officially SOLD OUT! 🎉🐾

A huge thank-you to Half Moon Studio for their continued and overwhelming support. This has become such a fun event, and we’re so grateful to everyone who keeps showing up for our kittens!

We’ll have a few more tiny yogis than usual this time, so get ready for some serious cuteness overload! 🧘‍♀️🐱

🌈 In honor of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we are remembering Wally, Mr. Kitty, Jack, and Khaki.

Unfortunately, they are only a few of the cats we have lost this year and every single loss affects our staff deeply. We care for these cats every day, celebrate their progress, worry through their setbacks, and love them as our own. Whether a cat is with us for years or only a few days, saying goodbye is one of the hardest parts of this work.

Khaki fought FIP. Wally came to us after surviving January’s ice storm. Jack was surrendered at 13 years old and later experienced a serious medical decline. Mr. Kitty battled severe illness and diabetes that could no longer be controlled.

Each of them fought hard. Each was deeply loved. When their bodies could no longer keep fighting, we followed the guidance of our veterinary partners and chose the most humane path available. Sometimes, the final act of love is accepting the pain of goodbye so they no longer have to carry theirs.

Wally, Mr. Kitty, Jack, and Khaki, you mattered. You were safe, you were cherished, and you will be remembered. We hope that wherever you are now, your bodies are whole, your bellies are full, and the sun always finds the perfect place for you to rest. 🌈🐾

💗 CAT HIGHLIGHT: FARRAH 💗

Farrah is a 10-year-old lady who firmly believes attention should be available on demand, and honestly, we agree. She loves to stare at visitors with those massive eyes and constantly looks like she's buffering... 😹 She has Manx syndrome and spondylosis, which cause back pain, but she remains an affectionate girl who loves being the center of attention.
