This page will be updated frequently to share details regarding the Annual Pie in the Face Challenge. Each year, over 15,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer - killing approximately 2500 kids in our country each year. Though these numbers are significant, they are too small to attract enough attention. Only approximately 4% of the annual budge of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is dedica
ted to childhood cancer. Unfortunately, these statistics have hit home far too many times in our small community. The physicians and staff of Monroe Pediatrics wanted to find a way to do more to raise awareness and critical funds dedicated to pediatric and childhood cancer. In 2014, they held what would become an annual, community-wide event collecting donations in return for a chance to throw a pie in the face of one of the physicians. In additional to being a lot of fun, it was extremely successful. It has since become an annual tradition and has evolved into a larger scale event including other fundraisers raising thousands of dollars each year. Run entirely by staff and community volunteers, Monroe Pediatrics donates 100% of the proceeds of this event to The Truth 365, an organization dedicated to childhood cancer awareness, research, and funding.
