Bayou State Trail Riders Association

Bayou State Trail Riders Association Bayou State is an association passionate about western culture and enjoys sharing it with the public.

It is a pleasure to introduce our association to horse riders and spectators all over Louisiana and the surrounding states. Bayou State began as an extended outing of leisure horseback riders traveling to Southern University Ag Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Upon being asked to promote SU's Ag Program during the annual expedition. The riders were eager to assist in raising awareness and scholar

ship dollars for students in SU's Ag Program. Nineteen years later, Bayou State is still riding and supporting college-bound students, the group has evolved into a community-focused organization embracing youth and senior citizens of the parishes traveled through during the trail ride. The association's involvement with residents and businesses has built lasting and satisfying friendships. Not only awarding scholarships, but donating school supplies, funding weekly reader programs, helping with the sponsorship of community activities, and providing personal care items to residents in a rehab facility. Undeniably, Bayou State would not be successful without the support of horse riders and the communities of Quachita, Richland, Franklin, Catahoula, Tensas, and Concordia parishes. Bayou State is humbled by the amazing kindness, hospitality, and generosity shown each year.

Checotah Roughriders, Luches took a chance on Bayou State Trail Riders Association after a phone conversation. At the time, he did not know any of us, but He believed no cowboy was a stranger and the love of horses and horse riding made us family. We shared many miles and memories together. Your Bayou State Family mourns with you in the loss of a “Warrior” of a cowboy!

THANK YOU FOR 20 YEARS of TRAIL RIDING! It has been a fantastic journey. We’ve made some dear friends along the way. The memories of our shared travel experiences will always be cherished.
After careful consideration, The 20th Year Trail Ride is our last. Bayou State Trail Riders Association will no longer host its annual trail ride.
To every horse rider, mule skinner, wagon rider, spectator and fan. To the towns that welcomed us and the law enforcement officers that kept us safe as we travelled. All of you believed in our mission and supported us with your time and finances, we could not have achieved 20 year of success without you. THANK YOU FOR IT ALL. It’s been a pleasure to have ridden with you. Thank you for sharing this journey with BAYOU STATE TRAIL RIDERS ASSOCIATION.

We’ve reached a milestone!
Celebrating 20 Years as a TRAIL RIDE organization.
Every organization has a beginning.
Bayou State began as an extended outing of leisure horseback riders traveling to Southern University Ag Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to raise awareness and scholarship dollars for students in SU's Ag Program.
20 years later, Bayou State is still riding and supporting college-bound students.
The group has evolved into a community-focused organization to include the youth and senior citizens of the parishes we travel through each year on the trail ride.
In addition to awarding scholarships, we have donated school supplies, funded weekly reader programs, helped with the sponsorship of activities at local schools, and have provided personal care items to the residents of a rehab facility.
The association's involvement with the local residents and businesses has built lasting and satisfying friendships. Bayou State is humbled by the amazing hospitality, kindness, and generosity given to us each year.
Undeniably, Bayou State’s annual trail ride would not be successful or enjoyable without the support of the communities in Quachita, Richland, Franklin, Catahoula, and Concordia parishes.
