Recertification Is Open
Only a few days left until referee licenses expire. If you have not certified since July 1, 2024, your referee license will expire at midnight on Tuesday 12/31/2024.

You can extend that to 12/31/2025 now, and save yourself some money as the price will increase on January 1, 2025.

2025 Referee Symposium
The annual Referee Symposium will be February 8, 2025 in Newington. The event focuses on referee education, and some of the instructors will be PRO referees from CSRP, and referee coaches from around the country. Attending the symposium is not required, but it is strongly recommended for those that want to learn more and improve performance. We will post the reservation form as soon as the final details are locked in, but save the date.

In addition to the online coursework, all referees and assignors working games in Connecticut must register for and attend one in-person meeting. We currently have six scheduled between December – January, and will be adding more for February and March. Register at CTReferee as soon as they become available.

2025 Referee Symposium
The annual Referee Symposium is in the works, and it looks like it will be in mid-February in Newington this year. The event focuses on referee education, and we’ll be bringing in instructors from around the country to talk with us about the latest interpretation and consideration updates, and share their referee experiences.

19th Annual Referee Dinner and Awards Night
It’s a little surprising that the event has not yet reached capacity, there are still 24 spaces still available.

Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 6pm – 10pm at Casa Mia on the Hill in Newington, the CSRP is hosting the 19th Annual Referee Dinner and Awards night.

Come see old friends and make new ones as we celebrate the "Of The Year" awards with family style appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee, as well as wine and beer for those 21 and older, and soft drinks for anyone.

2024 CELL Webinars

The Continuing Education - Lifelong Learning (CELL) Webinar Series aims to help referees and referee mentors / coaches increase their knowledge and improve their officiating and mentoring skills, respectively.

2024/25 Laws of the Game

For any referees who wish to further familiarize themselves with technical information and Laws of the Game, we recommend exploring the resources available in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. Additionally, individuals can review recent Laws of the Game Changes by completing the 2024/25 Laws of the Game Update in the Learning Center.

New Regional & National Referee Evaluation Forms were launched July 1, 2024. These new Forms are designed to provide a more consistent approach to referee feedback and development across the US. The Evaluation Forms prepare referees for the demands of top-level matches while also preparing them for the expectations of PRO.

Trainings on these new Evaluation Forms were held last week by the Referee Department’s Education and Development staff.

In addition to the online coursework, all recertifying referees must attend one in-person meeting. Venues, dates and times will be posted on the CT Referee website when they are set.

Fitness Test
The 2025 fitness test will be held July 13, 2024 at Newtown High School beginning at 8am. The fitness test is required for referees who are recertifying or trying to upgrade to Regional Referee before May 31, 2025. In addition to the fitness test, candidates need to have been the referee on at least 25 adult league games with three passing assessments and assistant referee on at least 15 adult league games. To participate in the fitness test, candidates must be able to meet these requirements by May 31, 2025. If interested, please email [email protected] for more information.

Out Of State
If any referees are heading out of state, particularly for college, and are interested in working games while away, please email [email protected] with information about your location. The CSRP office will contact the appropriate people in that area for introductions and help find the contacts to be assigned games.

Central Assign
Effective immediately, ALL matches sanctioned by CJSA and CSSA will be assigned through a single platform, Central Assign. As a referee registered with CSRP you already have an account in this system. With this platform you can manage your availability, accept game assignments, and complete game reports after the match. More information on using Central Assign will be sent soon.
