Registration is open for our 3rd annual 5k/kayak race at the Hard Labor Creek Reservoir in Social Circle. It is August 15th and begins @ 7:30 AM. We invite everyone to come out and join the fun and beautiful location. We will have age catagories this year beginning at 10 years old and up. Join us for visiting lecture by Dr. James F. Brooks, Gable Chair in the Early South at the University of Georgia. This talk returns Cherokee and Muscogee peoples to their central place in the archaeology and history of the Oconee Piedmont, and Athens in particular. It was developed in partnership with Historic Athens, the Muskogee Creek Nation, the Cherokee Nation, and the Eastern Band of Cherokees, North Carolina.
