Join us for visiting lecture by Dr. James F. Brooks, Gable Chair in the Early South at the University of Georgia. This talk returns Cherokee and Muscogee peoples to their central place in the archaeology and history of the Oconee Piedmont, and Athens in particular. It was developed in partnership with Historic Athens, the Muskogee Creek Nation, the Cherokee Nation, and the Eastern Band of Cherokees, North Carolina.

Annually, since 2002, the City of Monroe participates in Great American Cleanup activities during the month of April, to help with a little bit of spring cleaning!

During the week of April 20-24, 2026...any RESIDENT living within the city limits of Monroe (no businesses please) wishing to bring trash, garbage, scrap metal, and/or tires (limit 10) to the Transfer Station located at 213 Cherry Hill Drive will be able to do so free of charge.

NO paint, mattresses, or box springs will be accepted, for further questions and clarification, please contact our office at (770) 266-5148.

Also, keep on your calendars that April 25th is our Community Cleanup Day event, with more details to follow.

On Stage Playhouse is still accepting applications for the 2026 Doug Geiger Scholarship.

Applications are due May 1st. Don’t wait for the last minute!

To qualify, applicants:
● Must be a current senior in high school
● Must be accepted into a college
● Must have participated in an On Stage production

AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT!

April is flying by! In 3 weeks On Stage Playhouse will be having auditions for the summer musical “The Wizard of Oz” to close out the 2025-2026 season!

Based upon the Classic Motion Picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros.
We're off to see the wizard! This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has entertained audiences for generations. Join Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion as they journey down the yellow brick road, singing some of the most recognizable songs in musical theater history.

Join us Saturday, April 4th at 2pm for Pokemon Swap! Bring your Pokemon cards and trade with others to build your collection. The library will give away free Pokemon cards to all participants. We will also have another Pokemon Swap on Friday, April 17th at 4pm.
