Help advocate for more trails within Snohomish County!

Snohomish County Parks and Recreation is running a survey May 28 - June 19 to gather input from residents on park usage and priorities to help ensure county resources are used in the most efficient and strategic way possible. This is your opportunity to provide input directly to Snohomish County Parks to help guide future decisions, and the visioning process follows a 6 year cycle so don’t miss out!

Wishbone got its seasonal brush cutting with enough time left to patch up the catch berm at the first chute. While Wishbone hasn't gotten a top to bottom refresh since the 21-22 rainy season, we've been patching up some of the worst spots over the winter and are stoked to get it refreshed come the next rainy season!

The reroute on Meet Cutter is officially opened!

Two months and 450 volunteer hours later, this quarter mile reroute swaps out the steep washed out chute to the road with a more sustainable alternative that also moves the exit closer towards other trail connections.

A huge thanks to Scott for helping on the route planning, both the Monroe Youth Mountain Bike Team and the Snohomish Mountain Bike Team for helping clear the corridor, Greg and Chauncy who’ve helped out a ton of days to get things fine tuned and everyone else who has helped chipped at it over the past 2 months!

We finally started grading the last switchback on the Meet Cutter reroute! Once done, that just leaves a few scattered projects and tidying up to do along the reroute before the rain can help pack it all in.

The reroute on Meet Cutter is getting close! We’ve been doing a bit of everything from embedding some rocks into the trailbed, finishing up some of the bench cut sections, and even got an assist from Lord Hill resident Dave to get the exit tied into the road.

It’s about 90% there, but the last 10% is probably the most work as we’ve got two switchbacks left to build before we start tying up loose ends and hopefully wrap things up in early May. As always, thanks to everyone who’s been helping chip away at this!

Closing out the week strong, the Monroe Youth Mountain Bike Team put in some serious work to get the last half of the Meet Cutter all roughed out with enough time for a quick loamy test lap. Thanks to the 22 riders, coaches and families from the team who came out Friday and made a huuuuge push on this project! Special thanks to Greg Williams for supplying the pizza!

We’re now moving fully onto getting the reroute all dialed in! Building switchbacks, grading for drainage and fine tuning the trail to make those twists and turns feel natural. Work parties are posted for April to continue the work. Deets on the website!

The rivers not only went up higher than forecasted but also crested much later than forecasted which means Lord Hill's south entrance is likely going to remain inaccessible by car for all of Saturday and there's still some uncertainty Sunday morning.

With all that, the West Side MTB series race is canceled tomorrow. The good news it gave us a good reason to do some much needed trailwork over on the south side of Lord Hill, and now it's a little less muddy.

It's that time of the year where the longer days and better weather means we all get to spend more time out of the house and on the trails!

As things get a little busier, it's a good time to giddy up and refresh your knowledge on how to handle encounters with our hooved friends so we can all enjoy our time out on the trails.

Another busy week on the Meet Cutter reroute.

What is probably the wettest area along the reroute got a nice turnpike built to raise the trail above all the wet soil which should help keep the trail much drier and less mucky year round.

With that out of the way, we're moving down trail and getting to work on some of the first set of switchbacks that lead into a nice weavy and rooty section through the cedars.

We'll be slowing things down this weekend to tailgate over at the West Side MTB race, but we'll be back to trails next Wednesday(3/25)!

In a change of pace from the reroute work on Meet Cutter, we headed over to the Steamshovel trail on the south side of Lord Hill to get after one of the muckiest trail sections that will be part of the Bell Lap Productions West Side Mountain Bike Series race next week!

It's been years since the series has stopped to Lord Hill and we're definitely stoked to see the return next Sunday, March 22! Race registration is still open via their website(www.westsidemtb.com), and if you're planning to be out there, we'll be hanging out during the race so come visit the booth and talk some trails!

Thanks to everyone for helping deal with the muck, and good luck to those racing next weekend!
