πŸ’› Community Engagement Matters for OHSET πŸ’›

Community support is crucial to the success of OHSET. Our program is 100% funded by our athletes, their families, and the generous sponsorships of local businesses. Every contributionβ€”big or smallβ€”directly impacts the students who work hard all season to represent their school, care for their horses, and grow as athletes.

Many people don’t realize the true cost of owning, leasing, and caring for a competition-ready horse. Here’s a quick look at what families take on each year to make OHSET possible:

🐴 The Real Cost of Owning a Horse
(Average annual estimate β€” can vary by location and horse needs)

πŸ”Ή Board (full care): $4,800–$9,600 per year ($400–$800/month)
πŸ”Ή Hay & Grain (if self-boarded): $1,500–$3,000 per year
πŸ”Ή Farrier (trims or shoes): $400–$1,200 per year
πŸ”Ή Veterinary care:
β€’ Routine vaccines: $150–$300
β€’ Dental: $150–$300
β€’ Emergency care: $500–$3,000+ (unexpected)
πŸ”Ή Tack & equipment: $300–$2,000+
πŸ”Ή Horse trailer/transport: varies widely
πŸ”Ή Training or lessons: $1,000–$3,500 per year
πŸ”Ή OHSET expenses (fees, travel, gear): additional seasonal cost

These athletes and their families shoulder significant year-round expenses to participate, and your support truly makes a difference. Whether you're a local business, community member, or supporter of youth sports, partnering with OHSET helps lighten the load and keeps equestrian athletics accessible.

Thank you for cheering on our riders, their horses, and the community that makes it all possible!
