To everyone who showed up this season — every Sunday, every vendor, every person who grabbed a box for someone else, every kid who ran the stretch circle with Coach Shirley, every neighbor who covered someone else’s total without being asked — thank you.

You were the market. Not the tables. Not us. You.

Here’s what this season taught us: community isn’t something a market gives you. It’s something you build with the people next to you.

Neighbors showing up for neighbors. Someone teaching someone else how to cook what they grew. A stranger who became a familiar face by week three.

That doesn’t require a market. It doesn’t require us. It requires you — choosing, on purpose, to be in relationship with the people around you instead of waiting for permission to build it.

Build the table yourself if no one’s building it for you.
That was always the real harvest.

We Brought Our Own.

No nosotros. Ustedes.

Trajimos Lo Nuestro.

The Unity Market Co-Op was feasible. CHC led this project alongside the City — real research, real community input, a real plan to keep local food dollars here in Monmouth.

Then the report went up on the City’s website in March... and that was it. No announcement. No community presentation. Silence.

Meanwhile, a chain restaurant opens up and the town’s out here celebrating “fresh Mexican food.”
We’re not here to be quiet about what we built. Swipe for what the report actually says — link to the full study in our bio.

📄 Read it yourself. Draw your own conclusions.

Saca tus propias conclusiones.

Marcus from Polk County Fairgrounds stopped by market to talk about what’s at stake. Polk County Fairgrounds closes for good on December 31st — unless voters pass the operations levy this November 3rd. About $30/year for the average household keeps 4-H, FFA, the county fair, and the county’s emergency shelter hub alive.

Round two. 🧡

Last weekend, this community showed up big for Stuff Their Pantry — and the need is still there, so we’re doing it again. No prize this time, no catch. Just drop off a dried or shelf-stable pantry item alongside your clothes donation for Punx with Purpose.

Some of us weren’t always lucky enough to have a stable home. Punx with Purpose gives kids trying to find some normalcy a place to land. And some of us on the CHC team know what it’s like to go hungry with no adult to turn to — that’s why we keep showing up for this.
This one’s simple: it’s about keeping kids from going hungry.

And a heads up — we’re down to our last 2 Sundays of the season at Main St. Park. Come see us while we’re still here.

We Brought Our Own.

Segunda ronda. 🧡

Ven a vernos mientras todavía estamos aquí.

Trajimos Lo Nuestro.

Monday Motivation: some food for thought. 🌱
What’s your relationship to food?

Not “what did you eat today” — but really: do you know whose hands planted it? Whose land it grew from? Whether the person who grew it can pay their bills this season?

Where’s the closest place you can get REAL fresh, local produce — not the well-traveled kind that sat in a truck for a week, but the kind that was in the ground yesterday?

Do you go out of your way for it? To find the farmers who steward their land instead of stripping it — who skip the pesticides, herbicides, and growth regulators that boost yield but break down soil, water, and health over time?
Are you in relationship with the people who grow what’s on your table? The hands behind your vegetables, your chicken, your goat, your lamb?

Do you know how to grow anything yourself?
This isn’t about guilt. Most of us were raised disconnected from our food on purpose — that disconnection is profitable for someone. We’re not shaming anyone for surviving inside a system built to make convenience feel like the only option.

But food is relationship. It’s memory, land, labor, culture, survival. When you know the hands that grew your dinner, you eat differently. You show up differently. You remember that feeding people — and being fed — is sacred work.

So this week: go find your farmer. Ask their name. Ask what they grow and how. Let food be a relationship again, not just a transaction.

We Brought Our Own. 🖤

Today at market: it’s “Stuff the Pantry” day! 🌽🍬 Bring one dried good, get one free cotton candy — all donations go straight to the Punx with Purpose pantry.

We’re also hosting Polk County Fairgrounds today, so come find out how YOU can help save the fairgrounds. 🎪

And we’re still collecting gently used clothes for the Punx with Purpose closet, supporting youth in our community who need it most.

One more reason to come see us this Sunday. 💛
