2:15p, 9/27: According to the National Weather Service, most wind advisories have been dropped as winds ease, but Ocean and Monmouth counties remain under an advisory through 4 p.m.

That does not mean the nor’easter is finished. The storm has moved onshore and is weakening. It is expected to begin slowly pulling away Monday, but impacts will linger in the meantime.

Rain continues to wrap in, with periods of rain continuing into Monday. Rainfall has been substantial in some areas. NWS 48-hour observations through roughly 8 a.m. Sunday included 5.09 inches at Bradley Beach, 4.88 at Neptune City, 4.57 in Neptune Township, 4.44 at Long Branch, 3.70 at Brick and 3.54 at Ship Bottom. Rain has continued since those observations in some areas, and additional runoff will further complicate drainage where back-bay water remains elevated.

The overall wind trend is downward, although stronger winds persist in parts of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The coastal flooding threat has also decreased in many areas. NWS has dropped Coastal Flood Warnings for Atlantic and Cape May counties as winds turn offshore, and currently expects no additional coastal flooding there.

Minor flooding remains possible farther north in Monmouth and Middlesex counties, where is Coastal Flood Advisory is now in effect (minor), while Ocean County remains the primary New Jersey concern because high water continues to linger in the back bays. A Coastal Flood Warning (moderate) remains in effect through 2 p.m. Monday and may need to be extended.

Winds: We've already seen some strong winds overnight ( https://www.weather.gov/wrh/TextProduct?product=pnsphi&id=7579336e-39f6-4e33-93ef-8a89e0929b82 ). These windy conditions will continue through today and tonight. These strong of winds may make driving difficult, particularly in high profile vehicles.

Tides: We are entering high tide now on the oceanfront, so expect to see significant tidal impacts over the next few hours. Once we get through this high tide, we still expect to see coastal/tidal flooding impacts for the next 2 - 4 high tide cycles (depending on the location). Rain: Bands of light to moderate rain will continue through the weekend. It still looks like the risk for flash flooding is low, but slow rises on area waterways are expected. Currently, the only non-tidal river forecast to go into flood is the Millstone river in New Jersey. ⚠️🌊 [11 PM Thurs]: We have upgraded the advisories for Monmouth and Middlesex Counties to Coastal Flood Warnings, as we are now forecasting potential for moderate coastal flood impacts from the weekend nor'easter.

The greatest inundation is currently forecast to occur along the Atlantic coast during the Friday evening and/or Saturday morning high tides. Minor to moderate coastal flooding could linger through Sunday.

Do not drive through flood waters, and do not park your vehicle in flood prone areas! Stay tuned for updates.

Auxiliarists from Division 2 attended the Wind & Sea Festival at Bayshore Waterfront Park in Port Monmouth, NJ. This festival celebrates the area's rich coastal heritage with a day filled with outdoor maritime activities. While visitors enjoyed kayaking, fishing, crabbing, kite flying, and sand sculpting, our team shared vital life jacket safety tips for adults and children and promoted the mission of the USCG Auxiliary.

Auxiliarists Amanda Prascsak, Sue Baklarz, Dave Radeschi, Dan Chernavski, and Larry Story joined together at Mount Mitchell Overlook for the 9/11 remembrance ceremony, paying tribute to the heroes we lost and the resilience that continues to guide us.

Awards were presented to Auxiliarists Catherine Dudley, for her service as Division 2 Commander in 2025, and Laura Hallam, for completing over 78 vessel exams and program visits during the same year. Bravo Zulu to Catherine and Laura for their outstanding service in 2025!

🚨STORM WARNING🚨

A storm is anticipated to affect the Mid-Atlantic region starting Tuesday evening and is expected to persist across parts of the district through Friday afternoon.

Gale-force winds and hazardous seas are expected to impact the region from North Carolina to New Jersey.

These conditions create life-threatening beach hazards, such as dangerous rip currents and large battering waves, particularly along the coastal waters of Virginia and North Carolina.

The National Weather Service has issued gale warnings and small craft advisories for the Chesapeake Bay and coastal waters throughout the region.

The Coast Guard urges the following heavy weather safety and preparedness tips:

🌊Respect the Water: Rough seas, high surf, and strong rip currents may occur as the storm passes through our area; heed warnings by local officials, law enforcement, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

🪢Secure belongings: Boat owners should verify moorings, secure loose equipment, and store trailer-able boats (including kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle craft) in a place not susceptible to flooding.

📻Stay Informed: Boaters should monitor weather on VHF radio channel 16 and track local storm updates through television, radio, and trusted online sources.
