Here is a very short summary of the Mongo Community Meeting that was held on Tues. May 5th:
• We reviewed April financials.
• Pavilion lights at the park are being replaced.
• Event planning starting for event in June (Bingo or another fun event!). Stay tuned!
• We received $1,000 from REMC Roundup and are working on other grants — including funding for new playground equipment.
• The mural is officially DONE! 🎉 Final grant funds are on the way.
• Street light project is still waiting on permits.
• Yard sign reminder for meetings: volunteers will place yard signs the Wednesday before meetings and remove them afterward.
• Next meeting: June 2 — hope to see you there!

There’s been some activity on the south side of the General Store this week… have you noticed? 👀

The first-ever Mongo Mural is coming to life! This long-planned project was brought together by members of the MCDA board, local businesses, community members and the help of our amazing CVB, Visit Shipshewana. We can’t WAIT to see the finished product soon!

The Mongo mural is complete! We are in awe of the beauty and accurate representation of our small town. A HUGE thank you to Amy Psinas and Visit Shipshewana for helping us make this happen! This will be a great welcome for visitors and uplifting art for locals to enjoy. We hope you check it out in person… it’s truly extraordinary! ❤️🙌😄

Congratulations to 🏆 Caterina Staton 🏆 for winning the Soup-er Bowl with her delicious potato bacon soup! 🥣

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. Please share your soup recipe in the comments if you brought one.

We had a great time and raised several hundred dollars toward new playground equipment.
