πŸ™ Sunday Reverence

Sunday gives us a chance to slow things down a little.

No meetings to rush to. No place we need to be. Just an opportunity to spend some time with the people around us and appreciate the things that can get overlooked during a busy week.

The Scout Law reminds us:
β€œA Scout is Reverent.”

Being reverent can mean many things to different families, but part of it is recognizing that there are things in this world bigger than ourselves β€” and being thankful for the people, places, and blessings we've been given.

For our Cubs, sometimes that's as simple as learning to stop and notice.
πŸ‚ The change of the seasons.
❀️ Time with family.
🀝 Someone who helped us this week.
🌳 The outdoors we've been given to enjoy.
😊 A friend who makes us laugh.

Our Cubs are growing up quickly.
There will always be another activity, another meeting, another adventure waiting for them.

Today, it's okay to simply enjoy where you are.
Pack 140 families, we hope you have a peaceful Sunday together.

Skill Share Saturday β€” Scout Skills in Action!

Some of our Pack 140 Cubs will be out selling popcorn today. Some won't.

But there's something our Scouts can practice anywhere that happens to be a pretty important part of selling popcorn:

Talking to people.

For a young Cub, walking up to someone they don't know, looking them in the eye, and asking if they'd like to support Scouting can be a BIG deal.
And every time they do it, they're practicing.

πŸ‘‹ Saying hello and introducing themselves
πŸ‘‚ Listening when someone else is talking
πŸ—£οΈ Speaking clearly and confidently
😊 Being friendly and courteous β€” even when the answer is β€œno”
πŸ™ Remembering to say β€œthank you”

Those might sound like little things, but they're skills our Cubs will use for the rest of their lives.

That's one of my favorite parts of popcorn season.

Sure, we're working toward our 25 for 75 goal, and those popcorn sales help fund a whole lot of Pack 140 adventures.

But our Cubs are getting something out of every conversation, too.
That Scout who barely whispered their popcorn pitch the first time?

After a few storefronts, you might have trouble getting them to STOP talking.
Whether you're selling popcorn today or doing something completely different, here's your Skill Share Saturday challenge:
Talk to somebody!

Start the conversation. Ask a question. Listen to their answer. Tell them something about yourself.

Confidence doesn't usually show up all at once.
We build it one conversation at a time.

25 for 75!

Pack 140, we've been talking a lot about adventures lately β€” campouts, fishing nights, meetings, time capsules and everything else we've got planned for this year.
Popcorn helps make those adventures happen.

This year we gave ourselves a pretty big goal: $25,000 in popcorn sales for Pack 140's 75th year.

We call it 25 for 75.

And right now, our Cubs have already sold more than $7,500 in popcorn!

That's a lot of popcorn β€” and a lot of Scouts putting in the work.

Every sale helps our Pack provide activities, awards, supplies and opportunities for our Cubs while helping keep the cost of Scouting down for our families. It also gives our Scouts a chance to work toward their own goals along the way.

And we've still got plenty of popcorn season left!

πŸͺ Storefront shifts are available in the Trail's End app. Even picking up a shift here and there adds up when the whole Pack works together.

Don't have time for a storefront?
That's okay too. Wagon sales, sharing your Scout's online page with friends and family, or simply asking a neighbor if they'd like some popcorn all count toward the goal.

Nobody has to get there alone.

25 for 75 is a Pack goal β€” and we'll get as far as we can by doing it together.

To every Cub who has stood at a storefront, knocked on a door, asked a neighbor, or worked up the courage to give that popcorn pitch:
Keep it up. You're doing great.

And to everyone in Monett who has stopped by a table and supported one of our Cubs β€” thank you. 🍿❀️

$7,500 down...
$17,500 to go. Let's see how close Pack 140 can get!

Meeting Night Mini Challenge

DO YOUR BEST!

Another Pack 140 meeting is in the books, which means it's time for this week's Ticket Challenge! 🎟️

Every Cub Scout knows our motto:
DO YOUR BEST!

But here's the important part: your best doesn't mean being the best.
It means giving something your best effort β€” even when it's hard, even when you don't get it right the first time, and even when you'd rather give up.

So this week's challenge is simple:
🌟 Pick ONE thing you want to get better at.
It can be anything!

πŸ₯Ύ Tie your own shoes
🧹 Help with a job around the house
πŸ“š Practice something for school
πŸͺ’ Learn a knot
🚲 Get better at riding your bike
🎡 Practice an instrument
⚾ Work on a sport
🍳 Help make something in the kitchen
❀️ Or choose something completely different!

Then sometime this week, practice it at least three times.

You don't have to master it.
You don't have to be perfect.

You just have to be able to come back and say:
β€œI did my best.”

At our next regular Pack meeting, tell Cubmaster Matthew what you chose and how you worked on it, and you'll earn a prize ticket! 🎟️

Parents, this one's easy: help your Cub choose something that's theirs β€” and then let them struggle with it a little. That's part of the challenge. πŸ˜„

Cubs, what are YOU going to do your best at this week?

PACK MEETING TONIGHT!

It's Thursday, Pack 140 β€” time to get everybody back together!

After a big weekend at Camp Childress, tonight we're back at First United Methodist Church for our next Pack meeting.

πŸ“… Tonight β€” Thursday, October 8
⏰ 6:00 PM
πŸ“ First United Methodist Church
πŸš— Use the rear parking lot

We've got plenty to catch up on, some fun to have, and another big Pack 140 adventure coming up next week.

We'll also be talking about our 75th Anniversary Time Capsule!

Cubs and families, start thinking about what could go inside to show a future generation what Pack 140 β€” and life in Monett β€” looked like in 2026.

And next Thursday is going to be a special one: we'll join the veterans of Hobbs Anderson Post 91 at South Park for a flag retirement ceremony and bury our time capsule as part of Pack 140's 75th year.

New families are still welcome! Sign-Up Night may be behind us, but joining Pack 140 doesn't have a deadline. If your Cub has a friend who has been thinking about Scouts, bring them along tonight.

Cubs, don't forget: recruiting a friend who joins the Pack can earn you the Recruiter strip!
And one more thing...

🎟️ Pay attention tonight. You know by now that Thursday night means another Ticket Challenge is coming afterward. 😏
See everybody at 6:00 PM!

Wonder Wednesday!

Pack 140, ever wonder how something you do today might look to someone years from now?

Next week, our Cubs are going to help Pack 140 leave a little piece of our 75th year behind when we bury a time capsule.

Think about that for a second.

Someday, someone could open it and get a glimpse of who we were, what our Cubs were doing, and what Scouting in Monett looked like in 2026.

So here's today's Wonder Wednesday question:

If YOU could put one thing in the Pack 140 time capsule, what would it be?
Something from Cub Scouts?
A picture or drawing?
A note to a future Scout?
Something that represents Monett today?

Maybe something that would leave the Scouts who open it wondering, β€œWhat in the world were they doing in 2026?”

Cubs, talk about it with your family tonight and bring those ideas with you!

Because 75 years from now, today's Cub Scouts will be part of Pack 140's history.

πŸ‘‡ What would YOU put in the time capsule?

Did You Know Tuesday?

Did you know Cub Scouts don't have to wait for a Pack meeting or campout to work on their adventures?

A lot of Cub Scout adventure requirements can be completed right at home with their family β€” cooking, hiking, fitness, helping around the house, exploring nature, building things, practicing safety skills, and plenty more.

That's because Cub Scouting isn't supposed to happen only when we're wearing uniforms.

It's about taking the things our Cubs learn and putting them to use in everyday life.
Of course, getting everybody together is pretty fun too.

And that's exactly what we're doing this week!
πŸ“… Thursday, October 8
⏰ 6:00 PM
πŸ“ First United Methodist Church
πŸš— Parking behind the church

We'll get back together with our dens, talk about some of the adventures ahead, and keep Pack 140's 75th year rolling!

And remember: we're still recruiting!
Sign-Up Night was just the beginning.
If your Cub has a friend who might enjoy camping, building, exploring, learning new skills and generally getting into the kind of trouble we encourage β€” bring them Thursday!

If a Cub recruits a friend who joins Pack 140, they can earn the Recruiter strip for their uniform.

Cubs and parents: what's something you've learned or tried in Cub Scouts that you've used outside of a Scout meeting?

Motivational Monday!

Pack 140... what a weekend!

We started Thursday evening with fishing poles in the water and hotdogs on the grill at South Park. Then, before the tackle boxes were even completely put away, many of our families were off to Camp Childress for Ready Set Rescue Parent N Pal!

Our Cubs spent the weekend doing exactly what Cub Scouts are supposed to do:
They showed up.
They tried new things.
They helped each other.
They made memories.
And they Did Their Best.

Some caught fish.
Some learned new skills.
Some spent the weekend camping with friends and family.
Some probably came home with considerably more dirt than they left with.
But every one of those experiences is part of the adventure.

Now it's Monday.
The tents are coming down, the fishing gear is getting put away, and it's time to carry some of that same Scout spirit into a new week.

At school, at home, with our friends, and wherever this week takes us:
🌟 Try something new.
🀝 Help somebody who needs it.
πŸ’ͺ Keep going when something is difficult.
πŸ’™ And always β€” Do Your Best.

Pack 140's 75th year is just getting started, and if this weekend is any indication...
We're going to have a LOT of stories to tell.

Families, we'd love to see yours!

🚨 READY, SET, RESCUE! πŸš‘πŸš’

What a weekend at Fall Parent-n-Pal at Camp Childress!

Pack 140 had an awesome time learning, exploring, camping, and making memories together. From the activities around camp to just spending time outdoors with our Scouts and families, Ready, Set, Rescue! was a great one!

These weekends are one of my favorite parts of Cub Scouting. The kids get to try new things, build confidence, get a little dirty, and experience adventures they’ll remember long after the tents are packed away.

And for the parents who came along β€” thank you. These adventures are even better because you’re there experiencing them right alongside your Scouts.

Great weekend, Pack 140!

Sunday Reverence

What a week it's been for Pack 140.

We started with fishing poles in the water and hotdogs on the grill at South Park, then packed up and headed to Camp Childress for a weekend of Parent N Pal adventure.

After all the activity, today gives us a good opportunity to slow down for a moment.

The Scout Law reminds us:
β€œA Scout is Reverent.”

Reverence can be found in the quiet moments, too β€” watching the sun come up over camp, sitting beside a campfire, walking through the woods, or simply being thankful for the people beside us.

Today, we're thankful for safe travels, for the outdoors we're able to enjoy, for the leaders and volunteers who make weekends like this possible, and especially for the parents and families who choose to spend their time making these adventures happen with their Cubs.

Seventy-five years of Pack 140 isn't just a number.
It's generations of families making memories together, one fishing night, campout, meeting, and adventure at a time.

As everyone packs up and makes their way home from Camp Childress today, take a moment to appreciate another adventure together β€” and maybe give thanks for a warm shower and your own bed tonight, too.

What are you grateful for this weekend?
