A Week Filled with Joy, Love, and Blessings ❤️

This week has been filled with so much joy, love, and reminders of what community truly looks like.
On Monday, Susan stopped by and blessed us with two pans of her amazing homemade chicken salad and fresh croissants. As if that wasn't enough, she also prepared 20 meals for our unhoused family members, ensuring they had a warm meal and knew they were cared for.

Then we had two other supporters stop by and donate snack cakes and mini soaps to help brighten someone's day. Acts of kindness like these may seem small to some, but they make a tremendous impact on the lives of those we serve. A snack, a hygiene item, or a simple gesture of kindness can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Then this morning, I received even more wonderful news. Two of our clients shared that they will soon be moving into their own apartments! Moments like these remind us why we do this work. Seeing individuals move from uncertainty to stability is truly a blessing and a testament to what can happen when a community comes together to support one another.

To Susan and to every volunteer, donor, and supporter of Jean's Angels—thank you. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to serve are changing lives every single day.

Together, we are restoring dignity, offering hope, and changing lives. 💜🏠✨

✨✨ Please Understand ✨✨

Not everyone experiencing homelessness is there because of drugs or alcohol. Sometimes life happens. A medical emergency, loss of a job, rising rent, unexpected expenses, domestic violence, or simply not having a support system can place someone in a difficult situation.

The cost of housing and apartments has increased dramatically, making it harder than ever for many families and individuals to maintain stable housing. Before forming an opinion about the unhoused population, I encourage people to spend time serving them or simply having a conversation with them. When you listen to their stories, you begin to understand why some solutions work, why others don't, and how easily circumstances can change.

In our area, the primary shelters available are One80 Place and Star Gospel Mission. While there are other facilities, many require payment, and unfortunately, some individuals simply cannot afford those costs.

There are many organizations working every day to make a difference, and I pray that one day we all recognize that just because the sun is shining on us today doesn't mean we won't face rain tomorrow. Compassion costs nothing, but it can change everything.

At Jean's Angels, we provide day shelter services that include a hot meal, shower access, clean clothing, haircuts, and connections to additional resources. Through our mobile shower and laundry trailer, we also serve individuals throughout Berkeley County and neighboring communities. We are actively working toward providing overnight shelter services as well, though that remains a process we continue to pursue.

Every person deserves dignity, respect, and hope. Together, we can be part of the solution.
