Berkeley County Hosting Opioid Awareness Day Event September 26

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – (Thursday, September 4, 2025) – In recognition of National Opioid Awareness Day on September 21, 2025, Berkeley County will host an Opioid Awareness Day event on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Berkeley County Administration Building, located at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.

The event is free and open to the public. County employees are also welcome to attend. Several local organizations that receive opioid grant funding from the County and help fight the epidemic on the front lines will be on hand to provide educational resources and other relevant information. In addition to Berkeley County Government, the following organizations will be in attendance:

Berkeley County Solicitor’s Office
Changed Lives Ministry
Favor Lowcountry
Ernest E. Kennedy Center
Fair Haven Home for Men
Kay Phillips Child Advocacy Center
Remnant House Outreach Ministry
WakeUp Carolina
Berkeley County Coroner’s Office
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
Berkeley County EMS
The event will also feature Narcan demos, giveaways and more.

Since 2022, Berkeley County has annually allocated opioid grant funding to eligible local organizations that help fight against opioid abuse. Funding has totaled $2.2 million and stems from a $26 billion National Opioids Settlement, from which funds are being distributed to state and political subdivisions.
