As the heat continues to boil, here's a happy thought for September: just 3 1/2 months until Christmas and cooler temps...just sayin'! As the days of summer are soon to wane, we are excited to tell you that this month's newsletter is ready to read! Please be sure to browse the activities calendar and find something fun you'd like to do and come and join us. **NOTE** As the Monahans Lobo Football season kicks off, so do the away game viewing/dinner parties at the center!! Join us for dinner and viewing of the Lobos football team when they play on the road! Come show our boys some love! We look forward to seeing you at lunch M-F (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM). And stay after to visit with friends!

August birthdays/anniversaries were "a picinic" (theme) and we had a great time! Our very own Cecilia Franco (and owner of the Cozy Crumb) provided a gorgeous pair of strawberry cakes that were absolutely delicious! The WCSCC board of directors provided the $40 gift card to the birthday/anniversary raffle winner. In addition, fifteen $10 DQ gift cards were raffled off! Happy birthday/anniversary to all of our August seniors!

A big THANK YOU to Freedom Bail Bonds in Monahans, Tx. for providing our seniors with 3 pair of reading glasses per person!! They came loaded for bear with many different prescription strengths so everyone could find the exact glasses they needed! We are grateful that y'all are "looking out" for our beloved seniors!

Our first beading class was a smashing success! Kari Day and Zoila Solis taught our seniors how to make pony bead flower bracelets! As you can see, they had a blast and made some very beautiful "arm candy"!

Over the dunes and through the (Careless) weeds to August we go...! Following the 250th anniversary of our great nation, we are on a downhill slide toward the hottest part of our year and eventually CHRISTMAS (ok, a little premature, but cooler weather sounds GREAT right about now)! Speaking of HOT, this month's WCSCC newsletter is hot off the printer and ready to read! Please enjoy AND remember to pay attention to the activities calendar. Find something that interests you and come and join us. The more the merrier! Also, please come and eat lunch M-F 11:30-12:30 and stay to visit with friends :) See ya' there...!

July's birthday and anniversary celebration was a patriotic theme! Our delicious cupcakes were graciously provided by Raquel Blanco and the $40 restaurant gift certificate (won by birthday girl Belinda Salazar) was provided by the WCSCC board of directors. Fifteen $10 gift certificates from Wendy's were raffled off, as well. Happy birthday and anniversary to ALL of our July seniors/couples.

As we approach July and the 250th anniversary of this great nation, we also celebrate this month's WCSCC newsletter! We wish our men and women in uniform all across the US and the world, many blessings and safe return home.

To our local patrons, please come and eat lunch and stay after and visit with old friends and new! Join us for any of the many activities on the event calendar. We would love to see you all!
