This one really sits heavy on the heart for the URF team and the wide spread community.
He brought such warmth, humor, and quiet magic with him wherever he went. It was an honor to share space with him at our festival, a man that will be deeply missed in ways that are hard to put into words. Sending spoontree emporium so much care and comfort.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of The Master Spooner. He had one final ride last weekend down in Hurricane where he endured the wind and never complained. He was able to carve four spoons and interact with many people. This is what he loved and was his passion. While at the hotel, he lost is balance and took a fall. He ended up breaking both of his legs. After a couple of days in the hospital in St George, He was transported up to Logan to a care facility. Where his body just couldn’t deal with the pain and suffering any longer. He slipped away peacefully. He always said that he would “druther die on the horse than sit around waiting for death to knock on his door.” At almost 89 yrs old, it’s been a good ride. I have enjoyed the time together for the past 20 yrs of The SpoonTree Emporium. And in the infamous words of Freddy Mercury: “The Show Must Go On”. Give Mom a Big Kiss and Dick James a big Hug! Until We Meet Again!
