Please note: With heavy rain currently in the forecast, this workday may need to be cancelled if weather conditions are unsafe. Registered volunteers will be notified ahead of time if there are any changes.

Starting on February 5 we will begin offering weekly workdays at our Waialeʻe Lako Pono restoration site each Thursday morning. As our monthly 4th Saturday workdays have grown, these weekday workdays will provide a unique opportunity to experience Waialeʻe in a more intimate setting. Smaller group sizes will also often lend themselves to more specialized projects such as planting and harvesting. That said, tasks will be assigned toward whatever is most needed at the time.

We greatly appreciate if you RSVP by the night before each workday you plan to attend using the same link as our other workdays: waialee.eventbrite.com.

This is a service-focused opportunity open to individuals and small groups (10 or fewer). Site tours, educational presentations, and refreshments are not generally provided. If you are part of a group larger than 10 people, a corporate group, a school group, or a group interested in a custom experience, please inquire at [email protected] to discuss how we may best accommodate you.

We look forward to growing together as hoaʻāina of Waialeʻe. A hui hou i kekahi pōʻahā!

Our monthly community workday at Kalaeokauna'oa is this Saturday! 🌿

This mōli in the photo marks a huge milestone for us— our first nest at the restoration site. It’s truly an honor and powerful reminder that our hard work is paying off as we continue creating habitat for native wildlife.
At this workday, our team will be working hands-on to clear areas for future restoration, helping create and improve habitat for native wildlife. Come ready to get a little dirty, learn from our team, and be part of caring for this special place. Please sign up by using the link in our bio, see you then! 🤙

Important Reminder: Mōli are endangered species. Please stay behind the fenced-off area around the nest, keep dogs on leash, and use quirt voices when nearby. Mahalo.

North Shore Community Land Trust is working with University of Hawaiʻi Seagrant, Integral Engineering, and SSFM (a planning firm) to develop a North Shore Beach Management Plan. The goal of the plan is to develop site specific beach management strategies along the shoreline from Kapoʻo to Paumalū. We are reaching out to North Shore community members and organizations in order to get community input on potential strategies to help with shoreline erosion within this project area.

We will be hosting our first community meeting on Saturday, Nov. 1st from 10am to 12pm at Sunset Beach Elementary School cafeteria.
We hope to see you there 🤙

Kahe ka wai, Ola ka ʻāina. When the water flows, the land comes to life.

This section of loʻi has been dried out and "under construction" for the past few months. The other day it was finally time to bring the water back in. Now that the patch is much more level, we should be able to effectively plant much more of the area at a consistent depth.

One of the next steps is to reinforce the kuauna (bank) separating the loʻi from the marsh, and weʻll need plenty of hands to do so.

We'll be working on this and other tasks around the farm this Saturday October 25, 830am-1230pm. If you can lend a hand, RSVP at waialee.eventbrite.com. Don't be shy to spread the word!
