This keffiyeh was given to me in Jordan. Its woven design is more than pattern—it symbolizes resilience, connection, and the strength of community.

Drumming hits a high note at the Adapted Play Collective camp in Jordan!

This year we introduced drumming into our curriculum, and it was a game changer! From the very first beat, our campers lit up with energy, excitement and creativity.

Using nice (unbreakable!) drumsticks and five gallon drums, every child found their rhythm - no experience necessary, just enthusiasm and an open heart. Drumming brought us together, built confidence, and gave everyone a joyful way to express themselves.

We laughed, we played, but most importantly we made beautiful noise together!

What a couple of weeks!

We just wrapped up a very successful Adapted Play Collective sports camp in the country of Jordan! Children with disabilities from around the region joined us for days of laughter, connection, music, and play. The joy was real, the breakthroughs were beautiful, and our team gave their all. I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished together.

But the trip didn’t end the way we expected.

Our camp wrapped up Thursday with a huge carnival for the families of all the young people we served. Friday morning we drove to Petra - and on our way there, missiles began flying between Iran and Israel.

What followed was a tense and surreal 24 hours as we sought safety and waited for flights to resume. I’ve attached a video we took as rockets passed over the Dead Sea — a sobering reminder of how fragile peace can be.

Even through the chaos, we saw the resilience of the people around us, and we’re deeply grateful for those who helped us stay safe and eventually make it out.

To our incredible team: thank you for your courage, care, and flexibility.

To our Jordanian hosts: your hospitality and strength inspire us.

And to everyone supporting the Adapted Play Collective: your prayers, donations, and encouragement are what make these camps possible — even when the road gets rocky.
We came to bring joy and play. We left with hearts full — and a story we won’t soon forget.
