Jordan James Herr: A journey of love, service, and enduring spirit.
Early Life and Education:
Jordan James Herr was born on June 12, 1992, in Oakdale, California. Raised in Modesto, California, Jordan spent his formative years surrounded by a loving and supportive family. He attended Stroud Elementary, continued his education at Turlock High School and later graduated from the Stanislaus Military Academy.
Achievements in Taekwondo:
Jordan was an accomplished athlete gifted with a particular talent for taekwondo karate. His dedication and hard work led him to achieve numerous awards, culminating in World and State Championships. His success in martial arts was greatly supported by his mentors.
Military Service:
Driven by a sense of duty, Jordan enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction. He completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan, earning multiple commendations, including the Afghanistan Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, and a Combat Medal. Jordan’s military service was a source of immense pride, and he considered it an honor to serve his country.
Personal Interests:
After his military service, Jordan returned to Modesto and became an active member of the community. He had a passion for cooking, gardening, playing guitar, singing, wakeboarding, and boating. Above all, Jordan cherished spending time with his family and always loved and adored his only daughter, Jessa Herr.
Challenges and Legacy:
Jordan faced significant challenges in his life, including PTSD following his combat service and battling addiction. Tragically, he passed away on July 11, 2021, due to fentanyl poisoning. Despite these hardships, Jordan's life was marked by his , , and unconditional for his family.
