Made possible by a BEAM Circular workforce grant, supported by Stanislaus County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, this incredible new center will serve thousands of students and educators across Stanislaus County.
This is so much more than a new facility. It’s a gateway to workforce training, educational opportunities, cutting-edge research, innovation, and future investment—opening doors that have never been available in the Central Valley before.

Building a circular bioeconomy in the North San Joaquin Valley means connecting our region’s agricultural resources with new products, career opportunities, and community priorities.

At BEAM Circular, that work depends on the people and partnerships behind it.
We bring together farmers, businesses, researchers, colleges, public agencies, and community organizations to identify gaps and connect the partners and capital needed to address them.

We are also building ways for residents to help shape the work. Our stipended Community Steering Committee helps guide programs and votes on frameworks such as our definition of a good job. Paid youth and community ambassadors expand participation and bring community feedback into the process.

A new Blueprints for Belonging case study explores this approach, and the civic infrastructure needed to connect an emerging industry with regional opportunity.

We’re grateful to the community members and partners helping shape this work as we advance a planned innovation campus and workforce programs.

We’re celebrating our 2026 Community Prosperity Grantees! 🎉

This year, BEAM launched a Community Prosperity Grant Program with support from the California Jobs First . This pilot program supports community-led efforts that create opportunities for people in the North San Joaquin Valley to learn about, participate in, and lead within the circular bioeconomy while increasing social, environmental, or economic prosperity.

In this inaugural program, we received an incredible response from residents and organizations across the region, with 43 applications submitted for community-driven projects. We were thrilled to award a total of $65,000 across 14 projects led by community-based organizations and residents from across the NSJV.

Congratulations to this year’s grantees! We are so inspired by your leadership and the work you are leading in neighborhoods across our region. 💚 We also extend a hearty thank you and congratulations to everyone who applied. Our future is bright thanks to the many organizations and individuals across the NSJV who continue to invest their time and energy in building a more prosperous future for all.

I know we’ve been talking a lot about birds lately, and you might be wondering WHY... aside from the silly “early bird” pun opportunities (sorry, couldn’t resist).

Turns out native birds are quietly doing a lot of heavy lifting for the circular bioeconomy right here in the North San Joaquin Valley:

🐛 Natural pest control: Birds like Western Bluebirds and swallows eat their weight in crop-damaging insects, cutting down the need for synthetic pesticides in our orchards and fields.

🌸 Pollination support: Hummingbirds and other native birds help pollinate crops and native plants, adding another layer to the pollinator network our ag systems depend on.

🌱 Ecosystem & soil health indicators: Where you find diverse, thriving bird populations, you often find healthy soil, functioning waterways, and land management practices that are actually working. Birds are basically nature’s report card.

Our feathered neighbors are just as much a part of building a circular, regenerative Valley as compost, biochar, and everything else we usually talk about.

We’re proud to introduce the newest cohort of BEAM Circular Community Ambassadors! We’ve partnered with Valleyonward to expand the Ambassador program to Merced County. Valley Onward is an incredible local organization dedicated to cultivating leaders in the Central Valley. Part of that work is supporting Promotoras in Merced County. These Promotoras are our newest Merced County Ambassadors!

Who are Promotoras and why are they so important? Promotoras are trusted advocates and leaders, rooted in the communities they serve. They are the bridge that connects families with vital resources through culturally relevant outreach and education. That trust is earned through years of showing up for their community by translating and educating, doing home visits, and running workshops. They work overtime to make sure the communities they serve don’t fall through the cracks.

As Community Ambassadors, they’ll bring the circular bioeconomy home to their own neighborhoods, helping residents see what a growing bioeconomy can mean for good local jobs, and healthier and more sustainable communities.

We’re so excited for the Merced Community Ambassadors to learn, engage, and share about the circular bioeconomy!
