HopeWorks has been a cornerstone in helping Preston get back into the routine of working. Now that he’s connected with the program, he is building a path towards his goals of securing permanent employment, securing sustainable housing, and attending culinary school.

Preston describes the HopeWorks staff as amazing people who push him to become a better version of himself, help him accomplish his goals, and encourage him along the way.

This Friday, we're excited to feature Shane and celebrate the progress he's making through HopeWorks!

Shane first learned about HopeWorks after a coworker encouraged him to join the program. At the time, he was looking for work to maintain his housing. When he couldn’t find employment, he eventually returned to the Salvation Army, which opened the door to HopeWorks.

Today, Shane is working toward some big goals, including finding stable housing and securing permanent employment.

For Shane, HopeWorks has provided more than resources. It has given him a sense of accomplishment, purpose, and motivation to keep moving forward.

When Brian came to HopeWorks, he was looking for a way to return to the workforce after a 10-year break.

After being accepted into Dignity Village, he has also been able to save the income he earns through HopeWorks, which allows him to work toward his goals of securing permanent employment and getting his driver’s license.

Brian says he would recommend HopeWorks to others experiencing homelessness because of the structure it provides and the support of a case manager. He also appreciates the team he works with and says they get along well and work together. Most importantly, Brian feels he is in the best position he has been in for a long time. He is employed, clean and sober, and looking ahead with hope!

Family is central to Alison’s life. She is a mother of three, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, AND part of the HopeWorks family.

Alison was drawn to HopeWorks for the resources the program provides and the opportunity to make a difference in our community. She believes in the power of building strong connections, not only within the community, but within herself.

As Alison builds connections and continues her role with HopeWorks, she looks forward to the future. Alison is working hard to build a stable home and income and to further her education in counseling so she can support those who need it most.

We loved having ClinNEXUS on our campus to serve! Their team came together to prepare and serve a delicious lunch for our guests, and we are so grateful for their servant hearts!

Did you know we serve nearly 400 meals every day at lunch on our campus? There is always a need for helping hands, and we would love to have you join us!

If you or your group are interested in serving, email our Volunteer Coordinator, Emma, at [email protected] to get signed up. We’d love to have you!

For Bruce, joining HopeWorks was about something simple but meaningful: giving back to his community.

Since becoming part of the HopeWorks team, Bruce has been working toward greater stability, with a goal of finding permanent housing while continuing to save money. Along the way, he has also appreciated the range of support and flexibility that HopeWorks has provided him.

Bruce believes others in the community can benefit from HopeWorks because the program offers more than just work—it provides different kinds of support and a welcoming place to keep moving forward.

It’s a wonderful time of year! The Spirit of Giving Run is back—and the Grinch is up to no good again!

He stopped by our Presenting Sponsor, Surgical Artistry, with a new disguise. So if you see Santa this season, take a second look… is that really him?

Join us Saturday, December 12, for the 2026 Spirit of Giving 5K Run & Walk in downtown Modesto. Bring your family, wear something festive, and join us for a morning of fun and giving back!
