☀️ HEAT ADVISORY: Employer & Supervisor Reminder

The National Weather Service has issued heat-related alerts for portions of California, including the Central Valley, as temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s throughout this week and into next week.

With hot conditions ahead, supervisors and employers should take time now to prepare their crews and review heat illness prevention procedures.

👷 Employer Compliance Reminders:

💧 Provide water, shade, and appropriate rest breaks
🚰 Encourage frequent hydration throughout the workday
👀 Monitor new, returning, and high-risk employees
⏰ Schedule strenuous work during cooler hours when possible
📋 Review emergency procedures and heat illness response
🗣️ Train employees to recognize and report symptoms of heat illness early

⚠️ When temperatures reach 95°F or higher, agricultural employers must also implement High-Heat Procedures, including closely observing employees for signs of heat illness, maintaining effective communication, and ensuring emergency response procedures are in place.

What a great opportunity to learn, connect, and bring new ideas back to the agricultural safety community! 🌾

Angelina and Natalie represented AgSafe at Congress, connecting with safety professionals and hearing from leaders across the industry.

Day two featured keynote speaker David Keeling, OSHA Assistant Secretary, who highlighted three priorities for OSHA moving forward:

• Modernizing standards and oversight with technology and data

• Strengthening collaboration among safety professionals, employers, and unions

• Using a more proactive, predictive approach to help prevent workplace injuries and fatalities

Two webinars. One important topic: Worker Protection Standard (WPS) 🌱

AgSafe is hosting two webinars designed to help agricultural employers and supervisors understand WPS requirements and put them into practice.

WPS: Understanding the Requirements
Learn about when WPS applies, worker classifications, employer responsibilities, training requirements, worker protections, and more.

Operational Compliance & Supervisor Implementation
Focus on practical WPS compliance, including PPE, restricted-entry intervals, decontamination, emergency response, documentation, and day-to-day implementation.

Both sessions are designed to provide practical information you can use in your agricultural operations.
